Is that a roll cage in event of being flipped by an IED?

seriously?

Some thin bent pip set at a height above the vehicle nearly as tall as the vehicle itself is and the first you think is that is going absorb the impact of this thing being hit by an explosion powerful enough to lift this vehicle so it can actually land on the "roll" cage.

Im not saying I know exactly what it is, because I dont. I can however easily look up the caiman's weight. So Im pretty sure those arent roll bars. I could be wrong, but I dont think I am.

If I had to guess I would say something for antennas, or a brace structure for something that isnt up presently in the photo.

I think those are guide wires. To guide string or wires over the vehicle.

*name may be wrong, purpose may be correct

What kind of wires?

According to page 34 of D20 Apocalypse it is a wire guide.

What kind of wires?

Overhead electrical wires. Because MRAP type vehicles are so tall, they've had problems with them snagging on overhead power cables, and apparently electrocution of the their occupants is a real threat.

Edit: They actually look to me, though, like a basic structure for tent-like covering. If I remember correctly during earlier withdrawls there were various armored vehicles with essentially tents on top to give a bit of coverage against the weather for desant carriage of personnel.

What kind of wires?

Power and telephone wires. Sometimes you see this kind of thing on the really big over sized loads.

Wire guide to protect the antennae.
