In light of recent chaos in #draftroom, our forum's channel, I have decided to write this post in order to provide a clear ruling on how the channel is to operate and what is allowable and what isn't. In the spirit of liberty, there are no topics which cannot be discussed, under the condition that they do not break Espernet's rules. This includes "dissent" against channel operators. It should be noted that Espernet explicitly disallows spamming, and this method of "political manifestation" is prohibited in #draftroom, as a result. So, these are the few rules that all users agree to abide by when they join the channel:

• Don't spam.
• Only ops have the power to voice and devoice users. If you are autovoiced, don't voice users.
• Do not post links to porn, or other content prohibited by Espernet.

Of course, any other action which detracts or threatens the liberty of other users is also offensive.

Spamming, unless consistent (that is, the user spams after repeated temporary banishment), cannot result in a permanent banishment from #draftroom.

And so, this is a message to channel operators: dissent, including through spamming, does not warrant a permanent banishment. This is especially true if their spam is only a reaction to trolling on part of a portion of the channel. In this case, both the spammer and the troll should be temporarily banned. Any permanent banishment on these grounds will be rescinded after due time (that is, the time of the temporary banishment as a result of spamming) by myself. Continued disrespect for my rules will be met with your operator privileges being taken away.

However, if a new user fails to "identify" his NS nation, it may result in a ban.

Anti-Spiz Act: This gives the ops the right to establish permanent bans on members who are overly pedantic.

Anti-Aeq Act: "Ur mom" jokes result in 7 day bans.

Anti-Idiots Act: Giving a stupid answer when someone perfectly reasonably ask someone with an unfamiliar nick who they are will result in a short temp ban.

The necessity of directing this at channel operators as well begs the question of their qualification for that position.

It does, but I don't feel that the time has yet come of replacing them. This is especially true since I wasn't present for the most recent trouble, and I really don't know the true story. I've tried to be "fair" in the sense that I have just really absolved all parties of blame and just returned the channel the conditions prior to whatever happened.

These new regulations are simply to avoid future problems, including operator misconduct, as opposed to punishing past issues.

Well what about democratically elected operators with term limits?

There is already a check in place against ops, so I don't see the need for democratic elections (which would just complicate matters; and, I cannot be deopped since I am the founding op).

Clearly, it has. Because, otherwise the permabans carried out would have never been rescinded. The problem is the appearance of apathy in regards to their own policies. I don't think it will happen again, and I have already warned that their op powers will be eliminated if they continue to ban people based on their political ideologies, or to fuel a meme used for general trolling (i.e. "liberty").
