Top version w/ both grip and Parkerization. Colors may not be perfect.

The knife-3 is a compromise between a knife and a sword made for the military forces of Sersapin. At 30cm long, it gives the user a longer reach than typical knives, while still being reasonably quick to draw. It is made in the Japanese kobuse style, with high-carbon steel in the front and spring steel in the back, creating a stronger blade overall. Folding, however, was not used because modern techniques are much more effective at homogenizing metals anyway. The groove on the side is to reduce weight. The crossguard does not cover the back of the blade because if your opponent has gotten back there, you have much bigger problems than covering your hands.

Optional features include a polymer grip, with is more effective than the gougings underneath, and Parkerization to make the surface less reflective for stealth operations. In the Sersapin military, it is standard for officers reaching a certain rank to have their knife plated with Niobium, which is then anodized in a pattern of the holder's choosing.

OOC: I still won't be around much, but I made the picture for this some time ago, and had to post it.

But at least they are bulletproof. Just like any good katana

at this point there's no reason why you shouldn't make it into a sword bayonet
