Ban pimp my gun

I appreciate that this might add to our "newbie unfreindly" rep and that some people can be quite creative with it but seriously cna we just ban any pimpmygun pictures with the possible exception that the image is accompanied by a not copied from wiki or Max popenker stat block and something approaching a reasonable write up?

Really i want to curb posts that consist of a big splurg of pics with bugger all detail. I don't know if there actually is anywhere for people to go to discuss their PMG creations but NSD is specfically not about the art and to be perfectly frank I would rather see no pic with a half decent write up than a nice bright PMG creation.

I realise that this makrs me out as the pompous elitist arsehole that i am but fed up Crookfur is fed up.

A little bit of eye candy here and there is nice, but too much candy w/o the nutritional write-ups tend to make my eyes bleed.

PMG isnt the problem its the bad writeups(and by that I mean no effort, not bad ideas). We have all seen crappy stick drawings and never complained PMG makes crappy images easier to accomplish but the fault lies wholly in the design.

I am opposed to a ban on PMG for the simple reason that it is design in the text, not the image, we look at here. PMG has no bearing on it whatsoever and presuming it is so simply ignores the recurring problem of unthoughtful stats from Wikipedia. There is simply no realistic reason to ban PMG.

As above, it's really what it goes with. If someone's made something good with PMG that accompanies a half decent writeup, I'm fine with that. If someone's using a parody of something RL that looks pretty much identical, I'm fine with that too.

It's when they make shit images with it and have a writeup, or just statblock, of equal quality to go with it that the problem arises; similar images which are badly drawn, unrealistic or dodgy photo pick-'n'-mixes that are not done in PMG cause similar problems, we simply don't see as many of them.

PMG is thus just a vehicle for that general issue, and you can't realistically ban PMG unless you ban bad images altogether. And as I said at the start, PMG isn't all bad.

I will not endorse banning PMG, although I can see where everybody is coming from. But, like Sumer said, it's the content not the image which is being rated on this board. The main point is that it isn't PMG which creates bad write-ups. Besides, we should be happy to get more n00bs. It has been proven time and time again that most of the time they tend to progress (we should all remember ourselves six years ago on NS).

PMG encourages designs that are just the image though. That at the least should be banned.

Yeah, if it's just a pic it belongs on LInc tbh and LInc doesnt like lego drawings.
