The BGM-52 Sledgehammer is a man-portable fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile with tandem-charged HEAT warhead.

The missile has two modes of attack and each mode has the same two profiles of attack to choose from. The first mode is fire and forget, where the launching unit hands over the guidance to the internal seeker at launch. The second mode is fire, observe and update where a wireless datalink can update the unit in flight. The downsides of the second mode is that the gunner can only control the one missile until handing off control to the on board seeker and must remain where he fired from for infantry version, instead of seeking cover.

One additional feature in either mode is what the missiles on board seeker sees can be fed back to the CLU allowing the gunner to change or adjust the missiles flight if needed.

The two profiles are top attack which is the preferred mode for vehicles and head on the preferred mode for use against structures. The top attack profile lofts the missile to roughly 150 meters at maximum height, while head on attacks limit the climb to 50 meters.

The missile has a soft launch capability - the motor firing after the missile has left the launcher- which allows for the missile to be fired from confined spaces, a necessity in urban warfare.

Shortly after launch and as the rocket motor kicks in eight folding fins deploy, four to stabilise and four tail fins to guide.

The Command Launcher Unit (CLU) consists of a small display screen with a night mode compatible with night vision googles and a small datalink module. The weapons own sight is used to find and identify targets, a hard wired link built into the launch tube is used to pass data back ond fore until launch when the datalink takesover.

Common uses are in the man portable mode though when in service with the Emerald Royal Marines it can also be found mounted on their Minerva MCV's in Demeter RCWS. The most common team set up for dismounts and infantry teams is one gunner carrying the CLU, tripod battery and one round with an ammo bearer with two more rounds

Reminds me of one of my ATGMs.

LA-419 Arcus

The dimensions are sort of similar, so i'm going to guess that you used the Kornet as your base?

Ditch the wireless datalink, and go for a fiber-optic link. That way, your link to the missile can't get jammed.

Stevid: Well, you must be congratulated for creating an arsenal ship that hasn't been torn to shreds by the NSD Naval community. I've seen many arsenal ships go through here and been laughed at, but you've gone and designed one that everyone seems at least half okay with.  Well done.

Lyras: Competence-wise, an M-21 would comfortably be a match for the vast majority of NS-grade tanks.

Yanitaria: Compared to you, most designers look like they have ADD.

QUOTE
Ekraysia: I have to say, comparing your military equipment to that of the average NSer would be like comparing the T-34 to a hastily up-armoured elderly horse.

<Anemos> Sometimes I can't help but wonder if you're on a design team of some sort

No went with the Spike from Rafael, might add the fiber optic in as an option, or make the link frequency hopping, need to think about it.

For this weight class, subsonic is more usual. Otherwise the mass will have to increase by up to 2x.
