Ignore Function?, Well, it's prevented flamewars on NSG...

It's come to my attention that invisionfree boards lack an ignore function. Now, I'm not much of an expert on administering boards, but certainly there has to be a way to put someone on ignore if you can't discuss things with them without it becoming a flamefest.

On NSG, there are plenty of people who make numerous disparaging comments about Jews / blacks / the poor, and they're expected to either use the Jolt ignore function, or sit back and take it up the arse without flaming while people rip on their religion, political philosophy, race, etc. Well, we have a General forum, too, which we call the Lunch Room. We don't have an IGNORE function here that I know of. So far, people haven't been talking too much about the Jew Freemason Christian Furfag Muslim Black Homosexual Agenda (sorry if I forgot your race / religion / orientation somewhere) but before it comes down to a nuclear flamewar, we should REALLY look into some form of workaround by which we can get an IGNORE function embedded here.

Or you can use your better judgment and ignore things you find offensive without the aid of technology.

Coding that here is not possible. And nobody is going to switch forums because x or y isn't capable of answering properly to criticisms of certain facts to the point of making those who insist on pointing the flaws get sufficiently annoyed by lack of progress and for having their suggestions ignored to get verbal about it.

Personally, I see the implementation of an ignore function as a sign of decadence in an Internet forum. I already ignored mentally some posts here a few times, but there is no point into asking for implementing something which is likely impossible, because as far as I know, these boards are too hardcoded to allow something like that anyway.

Also, imagine if an user named Hataria decided to ignore everyone who posted criticisms to his designs, and then claimed they were "NSD approved". This is only one example of why this shouldn't be even thought about.

Personally I don't think you need to ignore anyone around here, in fact you need to start actually listening to what's being said to you in that thread.

If it was Hataria? People would lulz at Hataria because he's Hataria. It's unfortunate, but nobody realises the difference between Hataria 2008 and Hataria 2004 or even Hataria 2007. No, nothing Hataria posts here will ever be approved with current NSD attitudes.

Criticism is fine. Suggestions are fine. Escalating discussions into flamewars is not fine, or talking down and expecting to still be listened to when you're a right royal prick isn't fine, and that's where the difference lies. Given that NSD can't agree on the colour of shit (some people say stealth is useless, for example, while others say it wins wars - you can't take the word of any one NSD'er as gospel) I see no reason to treat criticism here as more than a suggestion while many seem to insist on absorbing everything that gets thrown out.

Therefore, isn't it simple to conclude it is useful to an extent, but it does not win wars alone?

My example with Hataria was just hypothetical to make a point on how this ignore function could be exploited, also like I said this isn't a forum hosted in a server Macabees has direct access to, so it's just impossible to implement it anyway. Also, nobody behaves as a "royal prick" for nothing. What I saw was someone suggesting the same reasonable things over and over and not getting heard, and everyone will just lose their patience after a point, or maybe simply give up from giving further suggestions and criticisms.
