The M18 Tactical Spike is the standard combat knife of the Candrian military. The weapon is a 6.5" triangular double-edged blade forged from tool steel, treated in a carbonitriding process to resist corrosion, improve hardness, and decrease glare. The blade is a full-tang blade going through a composite rubber-plastic handle, with a steel hilt extending into a knuckleduster-like guard. The pommel counterweight is solid steel with a flat bottom screwed into the blade, often used as a makeshift hammer. The hilt, guard, and pommel are all treated in the same manner as the blade.

Common modifications to the grip include using medical or electrical tape to achieve a better fit and reduce the potential for damage to the user's hands; since the knife is mass-produced and issued to any and all armed service personnel, it is unlikely to fit properly right away without such modifications. The practice of using medical tape is discouraged, as it usually involves taking the tape from a soldier's own medkit, which could lead to a disastrous shortfall if it's needed.

The blade was designed primarily for thrusting motions, but is still capable of slashing. The grip is a hybrid ovoid vase style grip with the knuckleduster bonded to the blade running down the handle with epoxy bonding. With proper martial arts training, a well-trained and well disciplined soldier can use the guard to deflect some knife blows. With very little training, a soldier can use the knife to knock an opponent unconscious quickly. Overall the weapon is cheap, easy to construct, and very effective.

Blade Length: 17.0cm

Overall Length: 28.2 cm

Weight: .162 kg

Price: $87

ya?

I so need to do a write up on my Irysh Kiss.

Note.

Even though the edge of the blade is live along tis length the shape of the weapon does not lend itself to slashing and this should be marked as a primary stabbing weapon that CAN be used out of need as a slashing weapon.

You're a decimal too overpriced.

Unless that is some really fancy metal you are using...
Like DU...

It's only carbon tool steel.
Rockwell hardness 65.
(Upside, is that you can strike sparks with it and some flint/quartzite, unlike stainless)

A simpler 2 large hole type 'brass knuckle' with a central reinforcement would work as well without the need for taping the handle.

May even remove the handgaurd altogeter, as you could use the hammer-bottom, or sheath, for pummeling. The handgaurd may also get in the way.

Likewise, the blade prevents you from making some nice punches to the chest.

You'd be better to parry a blow with the blade than the hilt.
