I would think the main problem with it could be security issues, since it wouldn't be that difficult to detect the transmissions from this thing and target the user.... -------------------- I am either incredibly stupid, incredibly insane, or incredibly bored. Like various other ID schemes against an insurgent force or the Iranian army that isn't going to be a concern.

I think this is useful IN PREVENTING BLUE ON BLUE. Which is potentially the main point. Unless you want to argue that IFF is completely useless.

It isn't useless, but you better have retained the skills for what to do when your IFF system shuts down, or you could be in for a world of Blue on Blue hurt.
