In b4 transphobia

You shouldn't call it "transphobia" as that implies that whoever is discriminating against them suffers from an actual mental condition. Although I'm sure you can have an actual medically-proven phobia of anything, the vast majority of people who are bigoted against transexuals do not. By calling any discriminating group "Xphobes" you associate their hatred with an actual and legitimate mental issue, therefore discriminating not only the people who suffer from such issues, but also in part excusing the bigoted group.

Can we replace this with 'in b4 bigotry' then?

Also if its okay change once why isnt it okay to change for the seasons perhaps Im only comfortable being  a man in winter--why should your "normality" be imposed on me.

Indeed, why not? I don't see a problem. If it was as easy as unscrew, screw in and screw, I'd probably even change to just the right plug for each socket, hot-swap them when one gets sore. Hell, even get an extra for threesomes, do DPs without a wingman.

seriously, I am disappointed.

Reread the thread, work out some bullet points and give us something.

Of all the posts I thought possible in this thread I can say with all honestly yours in the one I was actually looking forward to reading.

And lastly(but by no means least) a DP run wouldnt be nearly as much fun solo, honestly.

Really, this is your thread-- own it.

Ignoring Tarsas's attempts at derailing the thread...

Yes, I did see this movie. My aunt, uncle and some other relatives were watching it off a DVD, and I ended watching most of it with them.

Or hey better question, why should consistency be imposed on you.

Because making it 'everything's normal' (w/e the fuck that means) or 'everyone can do w/e they want cos you can't enforce normality on them' is fucking retarded.

Like most things, common fucking sense should be applied. If you're unhappy, do something to change that, so long as it's victimless, and within your power to change it.

While I have nothing against transgender people, my opinion is as follows:

When you opt to make an independent choice as a responsible adult, you are also liable to be disrespected for that choice. People can not cower from criticism or disrespect simply because it's "their choice."

No adult can have their choices protected from criticism.

Re: normality, "social construct" does not imply bad. Language is socially constructed and without it humanity would just completely cease to function. Man is a social creature and of course we will construct social standards and creations. The primary reason why many people are bigoted towards those who reject basic social norms is that people who cast themselves in a mould outside of the group demonstrate their lack of interest in the common welfare and security.

This is obviously a generalisation, but that is why people view them in that manner. Mankind has evolved toward the spirit of social co-operation. This is best summarised by the age old mantra of "safety in numbers." The original humans had to band together to protect themselves from predators and the elements. It is therefore not surprising and perhaps not entirely a bad thing that we are prejudiced against people who show that they are uninterested in the norms created and evolved by society.

Why do you think that greed, disloyalty, selfishness etc are some of the strongest and most powerful hatreds that man has held since virtually the beginning of recorded social history? The world did not begin in the 1960s. Man has been around for at least one hundred thousand years. Before the last several thousand, our reliance on each other has been of utmost importance. Four hunters may be able to take down a prey, but three may fail. The lack of co-operation from the fourth means the other three starve.

At first this developed into tribalism; the collection of people, largely arbitrary, but at least with a common language and common social norms. Some tribes are more blessed; those living near the Indus Valley or the Nile for instance, developed quicker. Eventually these developed into organised religions, and then nation-states. As time passes the union of men into collective groups became less arbitrary and more easily and properly defined.

No man is an island. Put yourself on a desert island and you will die. The more humans you add to the island, the more likely survival is for everyone. While it isn't necessarily acceptable that age-old prejudices still exist today, there is a very very strong reason why "alternative" lifestyles simply are not accepted by a lot of people.

Social constructs exist for a reason.

Some people rage against such social constructs for a reason.

In this case, Tarsas.

Need I go into the details?
