Since the Ariete, I have misgivings about Italian armoured fighting vehicles.
Is there any reason they didn't look at the AMX-10RC? Actually, adopting anything would be an issue. The 120mm tank gun, 30mm autocannon, even those 7.62x51mm MG3 machine guns would be issue after issue for the Russian Army. -------------------- One day, I will actually know what the fuck I'm talking about. Well it looks like the intention is 125mm gunned version and who knows what 30mm gun is involved which could quite likely be a 2A72 or a simialr. IIRC the MGs have always been interchangable for MAGs or even PKs. Of coruse this isn;t first time we've seen multi flavour combos such as this there is that AMV varient with the BMP-3 turret although it was one of the gulf states rather than russia itself. --------------------

Isn't there a reason why Italy never contributed much to any major conflict?

Sprut SD's amphibious, airmobile and chiefly Russian.
I don't know enough about the differences between WAFV and light tanks to consider reasons why the Russians sought to consider investing in Centauro, but it was mentioned in the article that KAMAZ is slated to join - but their notable vehicle is the BPM-97 which, as you can see, is pretty damned undergunned. -------------------- One day, I will actually know what the fuck I'm talking about.
