efore I begin; i am planning on creating my own store front. criticism is welcome, and this is a rough that will be edited for improvement over time, since this is my first REAL store front.
Again. this is a text only rough draft, although some of the complete ones have pics. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A little about us: Detective Construction & Golomun Enterprises is the leading corporation in the areas of power and defence that is owned partially by the state of S.F.U. of Golomun. (OCC: this means the government controls sales policies that relate only to who gets what and leaves the rest of the affairs to the CEO council) Merged almost a century ago by the then Top three companies in all of Golomun as a profitible alliance (Golomun Shiprights, Detective Construction Industries and Marvel Enterprises); DC&G Eenterprises is a dedicated conglomerate bent on making the galaxies a safer place for all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Table 1: Mechanical Exosuits of Combat and Hospitality ~ MECH Walkers "The idea of a MECH has been around since the 1950's, yet it was'nt until the 2040s (almost a full century later) that dreams of MECHs became reality. Ross Experimental Kill-bot Version 1 ~ foot soldier of tomorrow Height: 2.6m Top Speed (overcharged sprint, causes catastrophic system failure if overused): 20 kph Weight: 4 Metric Tonnes -=Cost: 15,000 USD=- This second generation of Kill-bot solved a few of the problems of the Prototype VX-01 kill-bot. This robot is more mobile than the original Kill-bot design. It can traverse rougher ground, has a smart targeting chip connected to its eye-cams which selects the 10 most dangerous targets in it's field of vision. As soon as these have been selected the V1 proceeds to fire on said targets until they are no longer a threat (these robots have more abilities at mercy than the original Kill-bot design, if an enemy drops their weapon and moves away from the V1, the V1 will stand down and target the more resolute enemies). They have much less firepower options than the original as they are only armed with standard military issue GD-5 Particle Assault Rifles with a GD-P01 as a back-up weapon. With that aside; The V1 is fully functional to be dropped from the air, it actually absorbs the shock and adds this it's energy banks, allowing it to fire more powerful laser fire for a short period of time until the energy absorbed from the shock is dispersed. The V1 has a great repertoire of songs to frighten the enemy as well. (Ludwig Van Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries and Slayer's Raining Blood). As mentioned before, the rate of fire is tremendous which puts stress on the built in recoil compensator's that must be used to prevent the users limb from being torn off. Even so, it has show time and time again that having a moving wall of Tungsten is still very useful. especially when you have a whole army force of infantry lining up for the kill. Each shot contains 6x 5mm micro detonated nuclear fission spikes with a steel-lead alloy coating; fired via an electromagnetic pulse-rail system. The firing process is simple, first the MAG-plate is moved aside to allow collection of the shot, next the collection Anode is activated to collect the needed shot after which, the MAG-plate is put back in place and the spikes are then discharged and accelerated to a muzzle velocity of 450m/s. Upon exit, the velocity and air resistance melts thin metal coating that kept the spikes in place and thus allows the spikes to spread at a 10-16 degree angle. To put things into perspective, this is essentially a rail nuclear shotgun. Now one may ask "why re-invent the wheel when a perfectly traditional one does the same job?" the reason is quite simple, for one to have a compact nuclear shotgun the engineers had to use this system since the shot is the size of a 30mm grenade cartridge. And when your dealing with multiple nuclear fission devices on such a small level you need to have a way to prevent the munitions from mistaken detonation let alone space to wobble. With that aside, it is a very devastating short to medium ranged weapon that will make your enemies think twice before messing with you. ________________________________________________________________ GD-Carbine Model 9 ~ Vintage-Series Semi auto grenadier ![]() -=Cost: $1000 USD per 12x case=- Lovingly dubbed the 'GD-9', this rifle is a 50. calibre assault rifle that dates back to the time before Golomuns exodus from earth. Originally developed as the answer to the previously failed OCIW program by the USA 40 years before, this successful rifle was the mainstay of all military branches before the development of more powerful Gauss rifles. Although its old, it is still a remarkable design for a carbine. To reduce recoil, the GD-9 incorporated a numatic reload system that redirected the recoil energy into reloading each and every shot. Thus making the massive calibre's recoil bearable to even a child; which regrettably is what the Violette's used in the first incursion back on earth. Another neat feature is using the space saved by the nematic system to house a magazined semi-auto grenade launcher. Of course, thier exists no air burst mode for obvious logistic reasons. (only using 30mm HE/Smoke rounds) And if that where not enough, the engineers at the then, Marvel Enterprises designed the perfect optical system. Amazingly immune to EMP, the TN-C6 optics where ahead of their time with a built in 'gun cam' and variable optical settings for any and all lighting conditions and even allowed the user to see any thermal signature from up to 5km away. Over the years of course, upgrades have gone into this impressive machine. Mainly having to do with extending the original range from 3km to a reliable 5km; and also the development of a sniper variant with an extended barrel and better optics for unparalleled 15km range and pin-point accuracy. Who, under Dr.Brazzleton's and GDF Supervision, shot a projectile at the speed of light towards the ship; causing the projectile to turn into radiant dust upon impact. GD-10 is a 'Dally gun' by description, please read the sticky on why this idea is litterally made of fail. GD-P01: I see what you did thar. Absolute-Range in space is meaningless. huge, why bother with that size when you can just make a smaller flying reactor with a hyperdrive and slam it into the enemy planet? FTL makes RKVs hilariously epic, and an omgswarm of FTL RKVs would be amazing. The weapons numbers cited are sort of strange. If you're going this large, use all that mass to make a HUGE laser in the center. Then using mirrors and prisms, siphon off laser energy and melt enemy ships. And I mean melt. Treknobabble is frowned upon here. The transport inhibitor and newton's second law of motion don't get along at all. Oh, and 10km is docking distance in space. Point blank is a few hundred km. More normal engagement ranges might be along the lines of "from the earth to the moon" or "an AU," depending on the weapons used. What's the difference between a missile and a suicide drone with a warhead? Not much. What's the difference between a fighter drone and a suicide drone with a warhead? At least twice the delta-V. Don't bother with fighter drones. Just go with more suicide drones with warheads (aka missiles) FITAS IN SPEEEEES is just a bad idea, space fighters are only there for omg space opera reasons. They're really fail from a physics perspective, and making them unmanned doesn't really help their case much.
Tiberian Sun wasn't even that good! I mean, it was okay, but it had nothing on the original! I'm not sure you realize how fast you're talking for some of these things. For example, your 80mm gun here fires faster than the speed of light. Note that light is 3*10^8 meters/second, that's 3*10^5 km/s. So, uhh, reduce that. By about 4 orders of magnitude at the least. People here can tell you what reasonable tank round speeds are (and yes, these are somewhat locked by the physics of ballistics and air resistance, go too fast and your round vaporizes from heat) Also, your engineers will HATE you for that RPM.
The Gauss Shotgun won't work like that. Your scout is too small to go that far (energy storage density problems, probably a hard physical limit somewhere in there), and you should never give every grunt in your army a scout like that. DALLIE GUNS FAIL. HUGELY. Energy density hates them, field maintenance hates them, training hates them, everything hates them. I can make a purpose designed weapon that only does one function that will be cheaper, lighter, and more effective.
Velocity is 2/3 the speed of light (not happening) In fact, this one is hillarious because a 10mm bullet traveling at 2*10^8 meters/second isn't a hand weapon. It's a freaking weapon of mass destruction. Firing that in-atmo is akin to setting off a low yield nuclear bomb, but instead of a point blast, it starts in your hands and stretches for probably a whole three feet before the thing is totally vaporized. Even then, no one could ever fire that. Even neglecting all relativistic effects, a 10 gram 10mm bullet would give you 2*10^6 kg*m of impulse, in the realm of "turning the person that fired it into a fine red mist from the impulse."
1200 RPM is uncontrollable by a nonaugmented human being and unnecessary for an augmented one. "Range" in space is silly except for lasers. Oh, and ion canons and other charged particle beams disperse nigh instantaneously in vacuum, due to that whole mutual electrostatic repulsion thing from being electric monopoles. It's like throwing a diffuse gas at the enemy, that then gives them a mild static shock when they touch the next door handle. in-atmo,things are different due to an interesting coaxial electric current that gets generated.
So you can lob your extremely expensive rockets around as unguided grenades? AKA you're spending a tremendous amount of money on overcomplicated grenades? Why not just make a grenade launcher and a rocket launcher?
slugs won't travel farther than flechettes most likely, and flechette guns aren't really novel. Or all that good. And you're describing a very expensive way to do what's done just fine with a dollarmart boomstick (CUE HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN)
Once again, your velocities are somewhat mad. You're talking 10^4 m/s, arm breaking regions for that sort of weapon. And your Mach 165 is 5.6*0^4 m/s assuming sea level standard atmo mach you're using (341 m/s). Skimming the rest screams a lot of techwank and handwavium, much of which violates thermodynamics, kinematics, and other things. One that stuck out is:
Sorry, but if I see a ship, I'll see a drive signature. From that drive signature and from the ship's response to it, I know what ship class you are, how heavy you are (meaning how much fuel you have left), how hard you're burning, and can probably take a stab at guessing exactly which ship in a class you are. So you don't just need to cloak the ship, you need to cloak the ship and its entire exhaust plume all the way back the last few AU. And you'd better not maneuver in a way I know your cover ship can't, or you're going to get fingered as a cloaked superdreadnought and atomized. Also, the laws of thermodynamics frown at you altering the amount of heat released.
All matter can withstand those forces. The question is can it retain that shape, and inter-atomic physics suggest no. People keep babbling about neutronium in stars, and while it's probably nonsense, there's no real reason to assume our knowledge of physics will alter enough to allow such armors. And what the heck is Naniogkolium armor?

Anti-matter has that annoying habit of interacting with interstellar hydrogen quite vigorously. The number density of space is, well, low enough that people talk in "number densities per cubic meter" rather than in mass density, but high enough that you'll find your rounds lacking umph when they reach their target. READ ATOMIC ROCKET! You don't have to read it all (I haven't nearly done so), but it has good information in it and will clear up most of the issues I've brought up. Stuff about the square/cube law that makes huge tanks impossible, energy density issues that mean simple single purpose weapons will still greatly outperform dial-a-guns, and info on why there's NO.STEALTH.IN.SPACE and how propulsion systems actually work. The Stoner 63 isn't a dial a gun (although it is startling like my NESR-21) It's really just the XM-8 before the XM-8 came around. Different barrels aren't a novel idea.
The way it works is that the receiver can be either belt or magazine fed, and you can put in different barrels based upon how long you want to fire, or how much you're firing. Note that you're not changing ammunition types (from bullet to shotgun to flamethrower or stuff like that) Everything is chambered in the same round. (well, there were two variants, a 7.62 and a 5.56) It's basically an XM-8, on which you can find much more coherent information, with some idiot magazine/belt feed combined thing. Actually, the NESR-21 system is preferable, because then you actually do get pseudo dial-a-gun performance, but only by removing and replacing the barrel/chamber assembly and having to live with using a 7.62mm bullet for everything. http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom/ind...wtopic=6114&hl= EDIT: Bushmaster ACR is also moving in the direction of only having to swap out the barrel/chamber and magazine, though since they're also targeting differing calibers they have a bolt face swap option as well. qft Dial-a-guns just don't have good enough energy density to be worth the effort. You're basically carrying a number of guns at once, except they're all bolted together. Unless you're Sigourney Weaver, you're not going to carry a shotgun, a flamethrower, a machine gun, and a grenade launcher all at once. It's just too heavy to carry all of that PLUS an ammo load to make it worthwhile PLUS food PLUS armor PLUS comms gear PLUS all the other eleven dozen things a soldier carries into battle. Note how the OICW project was a hilarious failure. Insofar as you can take the exact same mechanism and make it do different things, if you're not adding weight you're good. -------------------- ![]() ![]()

thanks to your reply and thorough explanation, the GD-10 will only be two in one, for logistics reasons. a gauss assault rifle with an under-slung particle weapon. my thinking is this: gauss spikes can only do so much damage, yes they can take out infantry and light armoured vehicles very easily, but when you are in combat and you have a guy inside a heavy flying tin can, might as well melt the bastard. or at least slice them in two. BTW: i will be adding a thorough description to my original post about the GD-10. i would be honoured if someone such as your self reviewed it. |
