What are your thoughts on animal cruelty?
Should the punishings be more severe?

punishings be more severe?!?! i dont think animals should be punished, and i think animal cruelty needs higher limitations. if anyone wants to debate this against me... bring it

What exact cruelty do some animals go through? I never really paid attention to animal cruelty, so I wouldn't know.

No, I mean the person that abuses the animal.
They don't get into much trouble.. half of the time, they just have a fine and sometimes some community service kind of work.

You get a much higher penalty for abusing another human.

I personally think that the punishment should be the same.. human or animal.

I think animals should be treated equally as us, humans. I think they should serve the same penalty as when you abuse humans. They are living creatures as well, you know?

animals rely on humans as much as humans rely on animals. Cruelty, therefore, should be punished on both sides equally.

Animals cant be treated the same as humans. Why? Because we have one thing no other creatures in the world dont, Imagination. Thats what sets us apart from our counter parts, the moooooooooooooooonkeys.

I am mostly against animal cruelty. Just to point out though, humans are on top of the food chain. It's just how the animal world is. I don't see lions giving symapthy to sheeps, right?

But still, we have a brain and we can control our emotions, so pointless animal cruelty should be avoided.

And a fine way we show our superiority, by abusing those that are considered inferior to us due to a lack of imagination

Humans are the only animal that kills/hurts other animals purely for fun.


Sad fact of the matter is animal cruelty will NEVER be punished as severly as human abuse. And thats the difference for animals its cruelty which can be anything from calling it a name to beating it for no reason. With cruelty people tend to think more along the lines of "being mean" where as abuse is almost always considered to be physical pain and so it brings around a higher/harder punishment.

Remember everyone you base a person not on how they treat their peers, but how they treat their charges.

Animals have imagination, humans just have the ability to express it. (Well, actually.. I don't know if that's true. But how can you tell?)

Some people can't control their emotions, and some people who can choose to ignore their morals. Or have a lack of morals.

No, but they don't cruelly and purposely cause pain to the sheeps before killing them.

You guys...remember, most of you eat animals...I know it's not the same as "torturing" them, but what's the difference in the end? I agree with bebekins. You should see the how they put them on the plate.

Killing animals, I say killing not being cruel to them, is only a basic need. That is the only time we are almost at the same level of decency as other animals. The way the animals should be put down is supposed to be, I don't know enough to argue it but this is how its supposed to be, in the most quick and painless way possible. Yes it sucks they have to die but the lion would die if they didnt eat the other animals.

Animal cruelty is different in that it serves NO PURPOSE. You beat a dog for no better reason than because you are in a bad mood, well yea those penalties should be more severe. That is where we superior mammals become stupid as rocks.

Also if you want to bring eating into the subject well how is eating only veggies any better. You all do realize plants are alive right?

I meant how some animals are put on the plate. I said HOW...not all of them are killed quick and painlessly. Other animals do not kill them the way we do..

I hate when people Fluck with animals, i would rather move to Australia and live on a farm with just animals then be here if i had the chance. I love animals too much. Its not fair the way we treat them sometimes.

I think it's wrong for people to keep animals locked up in pens, waiting to die. What would you say if I told you there was a country where they keep women locked up and daily squeeze their boobs for milk?

I have nothing against eating animals, it's just their treatment and deaths I have a problem with.

Yea thats what I said but I have no REAL clue how they are killed. It is SUPPOSED to be according to some law quick and painless and there really is no reason for it to be otherwise. That is why we need stricter laws so those people ,that I feel are weird, who enjoy hurting the animals and feel they have a right to just because the animal will soon be on a plate think twice about hurting them for no reason.

Animals dont get killed quick and painless...I saw a movie about animals before they get slaughted and they get treated so bad. People should get treated the way they treat the animals. All it is doing is turning us into the animals and i dont like it. Poor pigs, when they get slaughtered they first get the Sh*t beaten out of them and if they survive that they get grabbed by their hind legs and beaten on the floor till they die. What is wrong with people? I saw that and got mad i stood up in my class and turned the movie off. It was too depressing. People can be cold sometimes and when it comes to animals they dont care its food for them. Its horrible

Abusing and torturing animals is one of the most morally reprehensible actions anyone can commit. It is not a coincidence that many serial killers started out cutting up animals.

But -

Child abuse trumps animal abuse. I mention this because several states have stricter laws concerning the treatment of animals than the treatment of children.

If the punishment for kicking a dog is more severe than for kicking a child, what message does that send our children? Let's increase the punishment for child abusers first, and worry about the family pet later.
