I've recently bought 6 parts of the 13 Vampire - The Masquerade clan novels... mostly because I've mistaken them for the actual clanbooks. Talk about falling onto my face! angry.gif

I've only read one third of the Tzisimsce novel so far... and it's horrible. I've never heard of the author before, but he seems to be rather the sicko to me. Yes, drat it, we all know Tzisimsce are monsters and enjoy it. We all got the picture while reading the Clan descriptions for the first time, all right? Yes, we also know that Sasha Vykos is an nth degree monster, even as monsters go. We aren't all idiots, dear author. Was it really necessary to waste several pages with describing how various Tzimisce tore people to bloody pieces just to honour Sasha Vykos' presence in their elated circle? Including all the gory details? That served the purpose of your novel how exactly?

If it were fanfiction, the novel would have been torn to confetti by one of the mocking communities. The confused storytelling - granted, I wasn't able to continue any further, but again, it's enough to crack a foul egg to recognize the smell, right? The unnecessary gore and violence - it never really played a role for the story itself. The cartoon characters - I wrote better monsters at the age of twelve, really! And this guy gets published.

I'm afraid to continue or to start any of the other clan novels. Why White Wolf thought that publishing this utter crap would be good for anything or anyone is a mystery to me. blink.gif

All right, I feel better now.

Hi, Soledad!

Forget the Clan Novels. If you want to read really, really good White Wolf stuff, get this cycle:

Robert Weiberg: The Masquerade of the Red Death, Vol. 1-3,

Or in German: Die Maskerade des Roten Todes.

I've read the first two tomes in German (Band 1: Blutfehde, Original title: Bloodwar, Weinberg 1995, White Wolf Publishing; Band 2: Unheilige Allianz, Original: Unholy allies, Band 3: The Unbeholden,).

And I can only say: WOW! This goes deep into the mythology of the original Masquerade universe, snd canonicaly there are a few things that would have mady any storyteller go: "What The Hell?" -- but otgherwise it has atmosphere, it get's the incredible amount of plans-within-plans-within plans of that universe well over, and it is breathtakingly written. Vamopire the masquerade at it's best. I can just commend it!

If you wish to read good Wetrewolf-stories, try "When will you Rage", and "The Silver Crown". Both are good. But the Vampire novel I mentioned above is marvellous.

BTW, White Wolf is reforming their universe now, since they decided that in the oroginal game the apocalypse (or Gehenna) took place already. So, there is a new Vampire Game called Requiem now, that uses just a few of the origibnal clans:

Malkavians, Toreador, Brujah, Ganrel, Tremere and Ventrue all get a new chance as slightly different called clans with less harsh rules what you can learn and a less pessimistic background. Looks as if te game is getting closer to kindred- The Embraced now?

Greetings, Aislynn
