Title: Vintage - February 11 TDG Event
The Duressed - January 16, 2012 05:56 AM (GMT)
The February edition of Coss's ultimate tourneys has been posted. Info can be found
here.
In short: February 11, in Jersey, with a non-trivial Standard component for anyone who is interested.
Current attending member list:
------------------------------------
Sean (me)
Fish
Tim
Legacy Guy
Abel
Rob, do you know if you'll be able to attend?
rpf5029 - January 16, 2012 02:21 PM (GMT)
Awww, Sean, you posted about an important event without having to call and consult me first. You're growing up!!!! :'(
The only reason I'm seeing this is that I was just about to post this myself. This is the BEEZ-NEEZ, people. Roll call for seats. SHOTTY NO BLITZ!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Unless big daddy Rob Mac can make it....)
ManOfTheKoth - January 17, 2012 12:11 AM (GMT)
Oh, I've gone to this before for the standard. I might tag along for that if it's cool. Standard is an hour earlier... would you guys be getting there in time?
JIBBLET - January 17, 2012 12:42 AM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure I can go for vintage if you guys have any seats open :D
The Duressed - January 17, 2012 01:15 AM (GMT)
I've started a list of people who've expressed interest in going to this. I assume that Tim wants to go since he says he wants to attend all of the NEV series events. I think he also has a car, so if we get two car-fuls of people interested in going, I don't think that's a big deal. Everyone who wants to go, please post here!
ManOfTheKoth - January 17, 2012 02:23 AM (GMT)
ManOfTheKoth is Abel. Red hair; normally found drafting or bugging people for standard cards.
Asian Rob - January 17, 2012 03:18 AM (GMT)
I just played a few games with Rob, and he said he MIGHT be able to attend this event. I believe he said Duke was that weekend.
Tim said he wants to attend all of the NEV series events eh? He already missed two, so good job on that so far.
I assume you guys are heading directly to Cherry Hill since it's only 4 1/2 or so hours. But if you want to come here the night before, that's probably fine. Five or six might be a tight fit in our small, poor house though.
P.S. I just realized the link is to the salvation post. Tsk tsk Sean.
The Duressed - January 17, 2012 03:31 AM (GMT)
Hey man, that's what Coss posted on FaceBook. I accept no responsibility.
Tim - January 17, 2012 02:21 PM (GMT)
Yeah, those two were over break and I had to be here working on our new telepresence installation...
I definitely want to attend this. I'll make room for it. Not so sure about my car at this point though Sean. We can figure something out if this is the case, however.
The Duressed - January 25, 2012 12:18 AM (GMT)
Bad news, guys -- I'm being flown out of town for some job-related activities, and as such will not be able to make it that weekend.
rpf5029 - January 25, 2012 04:34 AM (GMT)
THIS IS THE KIND OF THING THAT REQUIRES A TEXT MESSAGE, YOU FOOL!
:'(
:'(
I'm never gonna see Nick & Nick again... :'(
Asian Rob - January 25, 2012 04:46 AM (GMT)
Congrats on having a job where the company is willing to fly you around. What's the deal with that exactly? Are they hiring you immediately after you graduate? Do you work part-time right now?
Team PSU Bomberman comes to an end before it can get off the ground. Maybe someone will top eight with a list you can use.
The Duressed - January 25, 2012 12:04 PM (GMT)
Thanks! They're starting me full-time in June. For the time being, I'm a student recruiter, so they're flying me back to Madison to get some training to do short speeches before class and independent info sessions.
There are plenty more tournaments to be had, you fools... Especially you, Fish. Calm down. Also we may be able to work out some kind of car borrowing arrangement if one of you wants to drive.
I fully intend to keep working on Bomberman, even if I can't smash the metagame with it right out of the gate.
ManOfTheKoth - January 25, 2012 08:35 PM (GMT)
Well, if Tim can't drive either I guess that's what it comes down to. If you're cool with it, I'd be willing to drive on the way back. On the other hand, my friends tell me I'm a terrible driver, so this might not be a good plan.
I'm unhelpful.

Definitely not inspiring confidence, that's for sure.

That's awesome Sean. I wish I would have put forth the effort to get a job lined up before I graduated. It sounds like a pretty sweet deal for you.
I'll be testing my build of Bomberman tonight. Hopefully I don't get blown out and learn a few things about my build.
The Duressed - January 26, 2012 01:55 AM (GMT)
Thanks. I'm really happy with my situation right now. The only sub-optimal thing is that there's no vintage in Madison :P I look forward to hearing about the testing results! Your build is very close to what I had in mind, give or take a few cards.

Pat - January 26, 2012 03:21 AM (GMT)
oh that's cool. The games are on cockatrice I figure?
I might have to make an account on there and try to get in on next week's. The average player that joins a vintage game on cockatrice either plays a pure casual deck or barely knows how to play magic at all.
Asian Rob - January 26, 2012 03:25 AM (GMT)
Yep, the games are on Cockatrice. I'd highly recommend downloading the program and registering with the Web site. I feel like it has rejuvenated the online Vintage community that really needed it since IRC and MWS are almost unused now.
Pat - January 26, 2012 03:32 AM (GMT)
Yeah I do have cockatrice but I have trouble finding people that actually play.
example: I just left a game where my opponent started his turn by playing black lotus > black lotus > channel > fireball. -_-
poggydude - January 26, 2012 04:46 AM (GMT)
you blew dat sunnofabitch out with gut shot gutshot didnt you?
Pat - January 26, 2012 05:06 AM (GMT)
I used top and found a force so yeah I guess I would have probably won :/
He just started drawing cards at that point and I left.
The Duressed - January 26, 2012 01:26 PM (GMT)
Gifts Ungiven did some serious work for you in game 1, that's for sure. I'm also glad to see that Grafdigger's Cage is the beating we expected it to be against Oath, being super relevant in the maindeck.
Asian Rob - January 26, 2012 02:19 PM (GMT)
With all the singleton answers, I feel like Gifts deserves a spot. In game one, it was used to get me back into that game. Fourtunately, my opponent game me the two that allowed me to kill his Jace and play my own.
Game two had it resolved, I would've won on my turn after playing Salvagers with a pile of B Lotus, Spellbomb, doesn't matter x2.
Does anyone know evouga irl? Besides Rob, there were 3 or 4 spectators for our match. One of them being a TO from New England.
