Title: Hey

Ghostcode - September 16, 2009 11:38 PM (GMT)
Hey everyone,

My name is Eric, I'm a senior in Finance this year. I played MTG for the longest time throughout middle school/high school. I used to play extended then got a bit more serious with standard for a few years, ended up selling my entire magic collection for like 1500 on eBay when I quit. I actually placed with U/G Madness back in the day.

Don't ask me why, but I have a urge to come check out the latest and greatest of MTG. I really did enjoy my time when I played. However, I forget most of the rules since it has been a while, but I figure I might stop by in the near future on Friday/Saturday in the HUB to check things out. Hopefully see some of you guys soon I'll just be casually watching, hopefully learning in the process.

Magic's like riding a bike (or something) its hard to forget. It'll all come rushing back to you soon enough if you feel like playing.

Here's a brief synapsis of what generally goes down magic wise with us:

We draft every Friday and Saturday starting around 7 (sometimes a second time around 11 if people are up for it). Currently drafting 3 packs of M10, 9$, prize support in the form of a redraft.

We do a lot of casual in a format called Elder Dragon Highlander. Its fun, but complicated deck building...if you hang around, im sure youll see it.

As far as the competitive constructed formats, we play them, but not as extensively in their off seasons. The Eternal formats, Legacy and Vintage have a dedicated player base that playtest a lot, and we generally do a lot with Extended during the winter months during its PTQ season (and some testing leading up to the winter months, of course). Standard is kind of dead here for now, since its out of season and most of us would rather draft. It looks like we might be doing a lot of Legacy in the next month or two in preparation for some cool Legacy tournaments coming up.

Definitely feel free to come by and watch, or draft, or play whatever format you feel like -- just let us know, and we can generally dredge someone up with decks and an interest in playing.

My names Jake by the way -- the kid with the (semi) purple hair if you stop by.

when I graduated, Jake's hair was not at all purple.

That said, coming back to M:tG is way fun... I started playing again during Timespiral block and have kept with it for the past couple years. I hadn't played since Mirrodin block (but other than playing for that block, it had been since Urza block) and picked things back up fairly quickly. It's a good decision. :P

Jake, since when is your hair semi-purple? Also, why? Also, 'poggydude' is Mason, the fat AND annoying kid (seriously, I couldn't care less about how much he weighs, but dude is SUPER annoying)

My name's Noah. You won't see me there this semester, because I'm super broke and taking classes online this semester, but I'll be there next spring.

Jake, next time you see Mason, smack him upside the head for me, and then once more across the cheek when he puts his hands back down.

This is a great time to start playing again. They just released a new core set in July, Magic 2010, and a new block is coming out in a few weeks called Zendikar. We are having a release event for Zendikar on October 3rd, maybe we can get you up to speed by then.

Why go wood? Just use a real one. ^_^

My name's Michael, one of the semi-regulars. Semi because I tend to go home on some weekends. At any rate, welcome aboard, Magic isn't too hard to get into but even harder to get out. Yeah...

This playgroup is one of the very few reasons I wish I was still in State College.

Mason, will you be here this weekend? <sarcasm>I do so miss seeing your smiling face.</sarcasm>

Hello Eric, my name is Eddie.

I share the story of quitting magic and then longing to play it again. I started to play during invasion block and then quit once fifth dawn came out. After that I started playing the game again when shards of alara just came out (last summer) mainly due to the existence of this club. I'm sure that you'll enjoy coming back to this game.
