In this thread lets discuss the white portion of the cube.
These are the cards present in both Evan Erwin's and Tom Lapille's cubes, so they are pretty much definite inclusions for our stack: Isamaru, Hound of Konda Mother of Runes Savannah Lions Eight and a Half Tails Serra Avenger Silver Knight Soltari Monk Soltari Priest Spectral Lynx White Knight Paladin en-Vec Calciderm Karmic Guide Exalted Angel Pristine Angel Yosei, the Morning Star Eternal Dragon Akroma, Angel of Wrath Decree of Justice Ajani Goldmane Land Tax Griffin Guide Oblivion Ring Faith's Fetters Condemn Enlightened Tutor Swords to Plowshares Disenchant Momentary Blink Pulse of the Fields Balance Armageddon Wrath of God Akroma's Vengeance Austere Command (35) Cards that they didn't agree on: Weathered Wayfarer Hand of Honor Kami of Ancient Law Kataki, War's Wage Mistral Charger Order of Leitbur Order of the White Shield Ronom Unicorn Whipcorder White Shield Crusader Aven Mindcensor Descendant of Kiyomaro Mystic Crusader Soltari Champion Spectral Procession Academy Rector Hokori, Dust Drinker Blinding Angel Mageta the Lion Reveillark Crovax, Ascendant Hero Blade of the Sixth Pride Celestial Crusader Cloudgoat Ranger Knight of Meadowgrain Magus of the Disk Pianna, Nomad Captain Serra Angel Soltari Visionary Stonecloaker Twilight Shepherd Crusade Glorious Anthem Divine Sacrament Parallax Wave Tithe Mana Tithe Exile Renewed Faith Wing Shards Shining Shoal Cataclysm Ravages of War Rout Winds of Rath Arrest Feudkiller's Verdict Final Judgement Hoofprints of the Stag Orim's Chant Prison Term Radiant's Judgement Return to Dust Sacred Mesa (54) Its from these 54 cards and others that we need to comprise the rest of the 60-80 card white section of our cube. |

Since the focus seems to be on the cards they didn't agree on, I'll offer my 2 cents:
Weathered Wayfarer-Good, defiantly more controlling but should be in Hand of Honor-More small knights (and of the knights there are better ones) Kami of Ancient Law & Ronom Unicorn -Decent, but only great if there are a lot of enchantments being played Kataki, War's Wage-Gets overrated because it kills affinity in extended. Doesn’t do much for us. Mistral Charger-Underrated since it sees no play outside limited. Inside limited 2 power flyers for 2 mana are great Order of Leitbur & Order of the White Shield-Originally the “pump knights” were considered more powerful than black and white Knight because of their ability to grow in the late game-which is more relevant in limited Whipcorder-A fun card; but not the best body and not the best tapper. If rebels start making it in (Go, Go, Lin Sivvi) he becomes an auto-inclusion, but otherwise he is just too borderline White Shield Crusader-An update to the pump knights. Better than the origionals (even if it doesn’t have the nostalgia) Aven Mindcensor-This goes back to how much tutoring is happening, and it just doesn’t excite me Descendant of Kiyomaro- Another good card for control decks; it was powerful enough to see play in them in type 2 Mystic Crusader-I like him. Despite 3 mana though, he is really a late game card (for once you get threshold). 3 power flyers that can’t be hit by most targeted removal almost always find there way into my decks. Soltari Champion-If someone likes White weenie, this is the card you should be rooting for Spectral Procession-A little new for my taste (if I wanted to play with it, I would be in a normal draft), but powerful enough that I won’t complain (too loud) Academy Rector-Yes! Yes! A thousand times YES! How many cards are there that are played in EVERY environment? It would be a travesty not to include it. Hokori, Dust Drinker-Lets get real, he’s just a weak winter orb. Blinding Angel-Any draft where I play against her is an awful pool; any draft I play with her is great. Few cards generate as much hate from the other side of the board Mageta the Lion-This guy is one of them though Reveillark-Not really as good when it can’t go infinite, but then again what is? A no from me. Crovax, Ascendant Hero- There are better big white creatures. Blade of the Sixth Pride-If it didn’t have such a problem attacking, it would be in. As it is though, I think it loses out to the knights Celestial Crusader-I like crusade more, but he plays the same roll, and about as well Cloudgoat Ranger-Good, but there is better. Knight of Meadowgrain- Another solid two mana creature. Magus of the Disk- Its just a weak disk, but a weak disk is still strong enough to clear the board. I say ‘give it a try’ Pianna, Nomad Captain-No. Not having evasion makes her much worse than solitary champion, and dying on her first attack makes her worse than any of the enchantments Serra Angel-On power; probably no. But the nostalgia value is just so high that I want her in anyways. Soltari Visionary-How much does this guy hate enchantments? When even I think you are approaching overkill-there is a problem. Stonecloaker- I can see him going in. Twilight Shepherd-Although its new, its one of the best big white flyers Crusade-Worse than Anthem in 2 color decks, and may be too committal; but powerful enough to at least force someone to make that decision Glorious Anthem-The idiots Crusade (same power level in every deck). I was not too impressed by Gaea’s Anthem in limited, and feel we can do better. Divine Sacrament-I can see this going in over crusade. Parallax Wave-I have trouble with this, since it doesn’t look that good (being temporary removal), but it plays great. Tithe-Whats next, Lay of the land? No. No. No. Whats that John? NO. Mana Tithe- How many cards can you make better by adding mana to the top? But it wasn’t great the first time around in limited, and I feel there are better cards to try the second time around. Exile-Just because it causes John to misread other cards, I have to say no (the judge, and his opponents, will thank me). Renewed Faith-It does cute things when it cycles. But cute is for little girls. Wing Shards- Just doesn’t get me excited. Its still good, but I don’t see it making the cut Shining Shoal-Now this card-this card should make the cut. There are few combat tricks good enough to see play in constructed, but this is one of them Cataclysm-Don’t think of this card as mass removal. Think of this card as “whoever has the bigger creature wins” Ravages of War-Armageddon? Why not? I don’t think anyone is dumb enough to claim it isn’t powerful enough Rout-OMG! YES! YES! YES! It needs to get in there! No other card in Magic lets you go “Eot wrath” It is awesome! Winds of Rath- Auora’s are what makes it great, and I don’t know if we will have enough in our pool. Arrest-Honestly? We can do better (much better) Feudkiller's Verdict-Big flashy spell that completely swings the game into your favor? Check. Final Judgement-Yet another wrath variant, but not as good as the above two. I say no, just because we have better mass removal (and we don’t want too much) Hoofprints of the Stag-No. There is just better. Orim's Chant-The closest white has ever come to timewalk, and (for two mana) easily playable without a combo to protect, or scepter to stick it on. Prison Term-I believe you need targeted removal; so that your opponent is forced to overextend into your mass removal. Radiant's Judgement-I like this card. Return to Dust-I don’t like this card Sacred Mesa-Now, here’s a white finisher. Remember all those big guys I said “we can do better” to before? Meet better. |
