we really need to discuss whether or not we are following the official rules for drafting lip cards.
the current ruling is that when you pick a flip card you must have it show for at least one pick. This rule has been seen as really bad by a handful of players. . I personally think it is a bad rule but am currently not prepared to ignore official procedure that will be followed in all other events. Please discuss and your opinions will be taken into account for the next draft. If you do not draft regularly or no longer attend this club, your opinions may affect the discussion but will not be taken into account. Also try not to be too aggressive in your opinions especially if you are not an attending member anymore |

I don't care that much about it and honestly it shouldn't make that big of a difference. I think a lot of us are overestimating the impact from revealing the cards because it should mostly just make signaling a lot easier but people seem more obsessed with hate drafting.
I'd vote for having the cards revealed since that's the rule and it seems wrong to play with different rules than all or most other innistrad drafts. |

Then we should also make it a rule to not talk about your picks, Mason, as that is an official rule. In fact, if we followed all official rules, there shouldn't be any talking whatsoever and I believe each of your picks has some kind of time limit.
We disregard these rules because they don't make sense for our club. |

i understand that, and we could probably be stricter on talking about our picks(as you noted i am a big offender here). However the time limit picks was removed for newer players as to allow them more time to make better choices. Also not talking whatsoever simply makes drafting bleak, although if you wish to push this(or any other issue listed) i will be happy to hold a vote on those issues as well. You see, I'm not forcing the official rules even in this case, i am instead gauging opinions and the consensus with the issues you listed is that of agreement with the status quo as far as i'm aware.
What we are talking about here is a ignoring a rule because it doesnt jive with your perception of what a draft should be. If we ignored this rule then following your logic we would then be allowed to ignore other rules that we percieve as bad. The new way of assigning combat damage is one that many in our club dislike. The rule on combat damage not using that stack also bothers some older players(myself included). I would love to ignore these rules especially because some of the functionally change older cards and therefore change older draft formats significantly. (ie. momentary blink is no longer quite as awesome). Now for the sake of keeping this clean and updated i will be listing opinions as far as i know them: Abel:our way Mason: WOTC way(half a regular) Zack Demaio: WOTC way Dan: WOTC way Pat: WOTC way(i believe half a regular) John TC: our way Meng: WOTC way(not a regular) even halving my vote and pat's vote and discounting meng's vote it is 3-2 to keep it official so far |

Well if ignoring this rule would mean we could also ignore other rules and live in a wild west where combat damage uses the stack, mana burns, and Brand is a combo with Hunted creatures then count me in.
Seriously though, it is a very good point that we ignore other rules about drafting so that it is a more casual and fun environment. I just think that this rule isn't important though and by ignoring it it encourages people that care about other's picks to spend time looking around at all the packs since it is still possible to see when flips are chosen. |
