So i guess no one found any of the cards interesting?

Pretty surprised to wake up and find no thread but it needs to get made so here it is.

Im not going to be posting all the pictures, if someone else wants to be a champ an do it awesome. I'm pretty sure by now everyone can find these cards on their own.

On to my opinions

Chalice of Life//Death is a sweet card. Great design, not too powerful, but most importantly they made it function so much better in edh. You have to actually work for it and it isn't totally weak in edh, it is actually a pretty reasonable card on all accounts.

That green hasty monstosity for two man will likely dominate a lot of formats for a long time, not that i care to much.

That promo art on zombie apocolypse is amazing and the card is soooooo freaking sweet, that's all i got.

Shaman//Magehunter is a sweet way to punish those dicks who try to transform your wolves, i approve but am still dissapointed that werewolves still appear to not have a place.

Gravecrawler is cool i suppose

Curse of thirst makes me more excited to get a witch/curse deck together but i dont think it is there yet

Checklist card shows what looks like a double sided 7 casting cost EQUIPMENT. color me the most excited.

More news from the checlist card- it appears that there will be a two colored werewolf probably legendary, i think maro already spoiled that this would happen back in innistrad, i wish the cost were more so it would have a better place in edh but right now i doubt they can make a good edh general at that cost.

Hopefully the double sided equipment is something really sweet to play turn 3 off a Stoneforge Mystic.

edit: The green guy could have been 1G instead of GG too. Let it compete with Scavenging Ooze and goyf. It still seems decent though, maybe it's real good in standard?

im not seeing a spot for him but he seems really damn good

(EDH perspective only, of course.) I dunno, most of the cards spoiled so far seem like limited filler to me. Including the rares. They're narrow too. Long way to go; we'll see how things shape up.

EDIT: Random thoughts, mostly trashing these cards:

Thraben Doomsayer: Fateful Hour (keyword ability): Man, and I thought Hellbent and Radiance sucked (in EDH). This is worse. I'm personally going to ignore Fateful Hour abilities when I evaluate cards, as they will almost never be functional.

Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Altar + another Zombie (Thraximundar anyone?) = lots of death / come into play triggers

Soul Seizer // Ghastly Haunting: Absurdly small for 5 mana (+0/+1 over a Chimney Imp). Probably doesn't even make the cut in my mono-blue Spirit deck.

Chalice of Life // Chalice of Death: In Magical Christmas Land, where I have a Seedborn Muse and a Prototype Portal of this in play, it might be good. Oh wait, tokens can't transform. So this is Pristine Talisman, but without the 1 mana? (Braidwood Cup? Really?) By the way, this card REALLY illustrates how Transform could have just been Kamigawa block flip cards. A flip card version of this would be so much easier to parse and use. (and it would work with Prototype Portal!)

Ravenous Demon // Archdemon of Greed: Lord of the Pit type cards are terrible. Why not just play a 9/9 without drawbacks, like Demon of Death's Gate? Artisan of Kozilek? (When a card compares unfavorably to Demon of Death's Gate, you know it's bad.)
Yeah, I know, the new card is only 5 mana, but when you factor in all the things you're going to sac, and the risk of dying to it, the real cost is much more. It does combo with Thraben Doomsayer, but seems fragile and risky to me.

Most decks would rather have goyf or they're running GSZ and there's better targets.

I wouldn't be surprised if zoo tried running him but I think he'll end up like a bump in the night, meh.

drogskol reaver is amazing is at least 10 different ways. i am reall excited by this card, it looks standard playable and definitely edh playable

I kind of wish it had been legendary but it's still a sick card.

Finally, a decent preview. Amazing in EDH; a little high on mana, but that's OK. Offhand I can think of at least a half-dozen decks it goes into, which is a good sign.

At first it seemed like a terrible Shrine of Piercing Vision but it does stick around.

This should be incredible in Saffi where it can be a repeatable Demonic Tutor or at least close.

edit: woah it even lets you stack your entire deck after the tutor. Proteus Staff-esque hotness.

Holy geez, standard token decks are going to want allll the emblems. I realize blue is the better color to pair w/white at the moment, but I just remember BW tokens as a house back in the day.

I second the for Sorin 2.0, although he doesn't fit into Garza Zol because he's white. :'(

Thank GOD his -6 is OTHER Planeswalkers, because him + Doubling Season would have been broken. As of right now, it's fun, but not broken.

No, it would have gone like this:

1) Cast Sorin

2) Pay 2WB

3) Destroy two other things and Sorin

4) Return all three things to the battlefield under your control.

5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all targets are gone

6) Tick Sorin up to 8 and put a 1/1 Vampire with Lifelink into play.

7) Pass turn

Sorin + Doubling Season + Mycosynth Lattice + March of the Machines works

EDIT: Oops, wait, the Sorin thing doesn't work - Sorin dies as a state-based if you -6 him, so can't target him. Ah, need 2 Doubling Seasons (or Viral Drake or whatever). Fail.

Good point on the State-Based Effects thing. I feel dumb.

However, even if Sorin didn't die to SBE, I don't think your solution would work, either. Both Lattice and Enchanted Evening are "in addition to" current types, and Sorin's effect specifically says "other planeswalkers"

but he is a target creature, he doesnt have to be both a creature and an "other planeswalker" (i believe)
