Front Entrance
Bursting with typical French architecture, there are large glass french doors that open up into a large marble front area. Security is based here, set up with a large desk area, and are also there to help with guiding new students and visitors around the grounds.

Hallways and Staircases
Pretty essential in getting around anywhere, the halls and staircases are here for those going to and from classes, dorms or any other areas of the Academy. Of course, you'll find people here at their lockers or just hanging out to escape...whatever they have to escape.

Dining Hall
For those who live in the dorms, this place is pretty important if they don't have mini-fridges or hot plates. For those who don't live in the dorms, this is where you can come if you don't feel like going home for meals. It's also a great place to meet some of your international peers.

Classrooms
While this is an amazing experience to be had, don't forget why you were sent here: to learn! Yeah, right. Well, skip class, go to class, hang out in empty classrooms, fall asleep in class: just make sure you pass this year or you won't be allowed back to Valmont Academy.

Library
The beautiful, historic library of the Valmont Academy, filled with rich wood and stone, holds thousands upon thousands of books. It also has desks and sitting areas for those who need to study by themselves or (quietly) in a group. If you're not quieting, you're going to get a 'SHUSH'ing!

The Courtyard
The grounds of Valmont Academy's courtyard runs all around the outside of the school and is beautifully kept. Flowers, bushes and trees are all kept by the best gardeners in the city. It contains five fountains spread around the school, dozens of benches, and plenty of large trees to sit under should the mood strike you.

Assembly Hall
Yes, the Valmont Academy has their own hall special for school assemblies and other functions. It is a large room with wood floors and decorated in light colours. During assemblies, chairs are set up in rows for the students to sit comfortably in so perhaps they'll listen in every now and then. Other than that, it's usually kept pretty empty, unless you feel like being alone.

Gymnasium
Oui, of course there's a gym. It's located behind the courtyard in the center of the running track. It contains a large empty space, a weight room, and a seperate indoor swimming pool.

Student Lounge
The student lounge is located down the left corridor from the front of the school between the front entrance and the cafeteria. It is filled with comfortable sofas and armchairs, as well as large circular tables with sitting chairs around them for those wanting to meet up and do work. It has pop and snack machines and two televisions hanging from the cieling that display the news channels. No MTV for you!

Apartments
Be careful which flats you rent out in Paris: pick one too cheap in a cheaper part of town, you're not going to find the 'beauty of France' like was advertised in the brochure. However, go for one of the bigger ones and you might get ripped off. Either way, it's a place to call your own, right?

Houses
Located along many Parisian streets are the more middle-class houses, or some more low-class ones. All built in that same beautiful French architectural style, you'll be sure to have a place to call your own as long as you keep up on the rent.

Mansions
Located in the more upper-class parts of Paris, or along the outskirts, are the mansions. Most of the students that live here have parents that live in the country, and don't need to live in dorms or rent their own places to live.

The Métro
If you're tired of strolling the lovely boulevards in the city, join the underground denizens of Paris and take the Métro, the subway/train system. You're guaranteed a quick, cheap and colorful ride as there are many talented buskers who hop from train to train, bringing a smile to everyone.

The Bus
The underground of the Metro not your thing? Try a city bus. Double-deckered with an open-top upper floor, you can get on here and enjoy the scenery instead of being down in the subway as you head off to work, or school, or wherever your destination is.

Champs-Élysées
This avenue connects the Concorde and Arc de Triomphe. It is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Paris, and has become one of the largest shopping streets in the city. Sidewalks lined with trees with little white lights in them keep the streets bright through the night from one end all the way to the other, giving it a beautiful glow.

Faubourg Saint-Honoré
The high-fashion district. You'd better have a heavy wallet to be able to shop around here. It's home to all the major labels' Paris locations, and do not be surprised to see the likes of Hermès and Christian Lacroix inside their own stores just checking up on things.

The Eiffel Tower
When La Tour Eiffel was built by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 , it stood at a mighty 300m to commemorate the French Revolution for the International Exhibition of Paris. Cost aside, the view of Paris, from its topmost platforms is fantastic and it's worth being a temporary sardine inside the elevator. Go there one one hour before sunset and get an astounding view.

The Louvre
The Louvre is known for its famous its works of art, but it doesn't only contain art, it is a piece of art by itself! The buildings, that together make up the museum the Louvre, are an impressive sight to see in their own right. It also houses the originals of the Mona Lisa, Winged Victory of Samothrace and Venus de Milo.

The River Seine
A river cruise on the Seine is an excellent way to discover Paris, the beauty of its bridges and monuments and the richness of its history. Along side visiting the oldest districts of Paris and experiencing a live description of the best views of Paris, this is a must. The river cruise offers the chance of taking a one hour cruise along the Seine, a lunch cruise or a dinner cruise.

Moulin Rouge
The Moulin Rouge, built in 1889 by Joseph Oller, situated in the seedy area known as Pigalle, not far from Montmartre presented the thrill of the "fruit defendu" : women showing their legs in an era where ankles were something "audacious". Now famous for it's cabaret stage shows and thrilling Can-Can, it is a very expensive hot spot for tourists who want to enjoy Paris...without seeing any Parisians.

Buddha Bar
The bar is in a circular deck with low level candle lighting and dark wood. Comfy couches and chairs are difficult to come by, but this place is full of them. In the background, enchanting asian/new age techno plays. Come here and enjoy a delicious meal in one of the hippest places in town, or mingle at the bar with some hip people instead.

Barrio Latino
Arguably one of the best clubs in Paris, this place boasts five colorful floors of dining, dancing, drinking and fun. It is enourmous in size, with hundreds of staff constantly waiting on the place. The music is dance and salsa, and many say it is the best place to dance the night away until the sun comes up.
