cheer.gif happy new year! cheer.gif

a new year, a new journal ~ hope to see better results this year. my new avatar is from dec 27 ~ head shot wasn't bad, but the body sure needs work!!

i'm happy to report that i only gained 0.2 lbs over the month of december thumbup.gif now, to get my head in the game and lose each month!

we're in the midst of a blizzard here. the snow and wind started over night and is expected to continue today. the prediction is about a foot of snow, but it has drifted much higher in spots already. we'll have to get out shoveling when it slows down some.

aaron was supposed to work today, but at the moment it's not safe on the roads, so he'll reassess later. good pay for working today, but not worth risking his life or those of other drivers.

we got all our christmas stuff down and put away ~ the living room seems SO big! nice to reclaim the space and get back to normal.

we got chinese takeout for supper last night ~ very tasty! and will have the leftovers today.

hope you all have a restful day. i'll be thinking of you as i'm out shovelingsnow.gif

thanks, vickie!

whew, i'm still pooped from all that shoveling ~ we went out once around noon then again before supper to clear about the same amount again! luckily, it didn't snow much more over night, so no shoveling today smile.gif

today, i've got to get groceries, but nothing else planned. hopefully, the store won't be too busy and i'll get home again quickly.

hope you all have a great day.

hi, vickie!

we did get a few more cm of snow, but it didn't amount to much. i ended up having to shovel the end of the driveway after the plow went by then decided to clear off the deck, too. i think i've had enough of shoveling for awhile!

amy and i had a nice day yesterday ~ played several games of scrabble, some wii games, went for groceries, then came home and relaxed before shoveling. aaron worked and said alot of the roads were still snow covered and some were quite icy, too.

today, amy starts back at taekwondo after being out of it since she broke her leg in april ~ she's really nervous about it. i told her we'd try it for january and see how it goes then make a decision to continue or not. i'm worried that if she's too scared, she might reinjure herself.

other than that, nothing's planned but laundry and housework.

hope everyone has a great weekend.

A blizzard, eh? I wsh we'd get one....sorta. I love seeing them form a safe and warm home. Ya know, stay home and play cards, watch TV, etc. (not the shoveling part!)

I guess I better start a new 2009 journal too. (maybe on my first weigh-in)

happy new year to you too!! sounds like you started it off with a great exercise plan!! (snow shoveling? wink.gif )

well, i don't know about you, but i'm glad the holiday season has come and gone now. there was WAAAAY too much food involved in it for me and my scale has registered all the bad behaviour, but...........a fresh start as of today! first goal---lose what i gained in december---ugh. oh well, i guess it's true that if you're gonna play, ya gotta pay. looks like pay day is here. rolleyes.gif

i'm ready for my routine again. how 'bout you Laura?

That's about the only reason I hate the holiday season...too much eating. But that's what families do, get together and eat, eat, eat! It's back to a good routine now, right?

thanks for stopping by, ladies! it's definitely back to "normal" today and i'm looking forward to the regular routine.

vickie, scrabble is my favourite game ~ i've played it since i was old enough to spell and one of the best moments was when i beat my dad for the first time. aaron really doesn't like it, but i'm glad that amy does.

amy did really well in taekwondo on saturday despite being out of it for 9 months. she came home and soaked in an epson salts bath, but was still pretty sore yesterday. her leg was aching saturday, but no mention of it yesterday, so that's good. just got to get her muscles back in shape and she'll be fine.

yesterday was a nice quiet day ~ finished a book, went to the mall for abit, then home to stretch out in front of the tv. i actually feel really rested for the first time in ages!

here's today's menu:

B ~ bran flakes w/1% milk, coffee w/1%
S ~ dried cranberries, coffee w/1%
L ~ slice of whole grain bread w/peanut butter, yogurt
S ~ 2 clementines, tea w/1%
D ~ 2 fried eggs w/whole grain toast, 1% milk
S ~ ??
E ~ 30 minutes: crunches, pushups, treadmill

Hi Laura, Glad Amy's TKD went well. I remember finally beating my dad at Monopoly..........he was so funny/bad, every time we played he'd win and then get up and play "we are the champions" while doing weight lifter poses. LOL So the one time I won I got to do it. laugh.gif

hi, vickie & laura!

well my menu plan was good, but it went askew in the evening ~ had some chocolates, fruit snacks & some more cranberries ~ even that didn't satisfy my sweet craving. luckily today's a new day!

amy got another tkd class under her belt and it went well. she seems to have regained her interest in it and is glad to be back despite the sore muscles.

poor aaron had a late day yesterday ~ not home til 8:45. he said today will be another long one, but hopefully not so late.

i have to leave work early today since amy has a dentist appt, then another one on thursday ~ two small fillings, but on opposite sides, so they won't do them both the same day.

here's the menu for today:

B ~ bran flakes w/1%, coffee w/1%
S ~ cranberries, coffee w/1%
L ~ tuna & crackers, yogurt
S ~ 2 clementines
D ~ "fried" rice w/veggies
S ~ glass of milk
E ~ 30 mins: crunches, pushups, treadmill

hey laura!

i understand your problem completely with the snacking on sweets! if i didn't have a giant sized sweet tooth, i wouldn't have any weight problems i don't think. i'm trying to overcome that this year. maybe eat more natural sugars like in fruit. oh well, as long as we're trying, we're doing better.

hope your day is a good one! smile.gif
