All in the Family began as a British sitcom that was changed and adapted for American audiences. It revolves around Archie Bunker, a man who dislikes and openly and loudly speaks out against things that don't fit his narrow ideals. His wife, Edith, is a quiet, somewhat dim-witted woman who Archie frequently calls a Dingbat but has a heart of gold. His daughter, Gloria, is married to Mike. Mike (Meathead) is Archie's constant opponent in religious, ethical, political, and social debates.

This is actually one of my favorite shows. I absolutely adore Edith. She comes across as being so slow mentally that you tend to underestimate her, but almost all of the time she is proven right, and above all others, she is the one to change Archie most.
