Title: FreeDOS FAT
Description: Cannot boot

Paul Z - May 14, 2010 03:09 PM (GMT)
Hello,
I created the boot disk (twice) on two different USB Sticks, the first didn't boot at all, the second booted me to the point where I get FreeDOS FAT message, and then stops. Therefore I am assuming the boot sequence is now correct, not sure what is wrong, please help.
Thanks,
Paul

In addition, I noticed elsewhere on this board there was someone with a similar problem and the solution was to download alternate DOS files. I followed this advise and still end up with the same FreeDOS FAT stopping point in the boot process.

Hi,

After the program alerts you that all files will be overwritten, are you letting the rest of it go automatically? You're not clicking any of the windows that come up after that are you?

Thanks,

Dana

You can try to create it manually here: http://www.password-reset.com/create-usb.php

See if that helps.

Or, you can also try the manual method above, but use the alternate DOS files here: http://www.password-reset.com/downloads/Alt_DOS_files.zip

When at the step to browse to the DOS files, browse to the alternate files above.

If that doesn't work, it's possible that it's just not compatible with the system you have unfortunately.

Let me know if doing it manually helps.

Also, is USB your only choice? Do you have a CD drive? Sometimes USB is just too finicky for some systems. It's not as reliable as CD/DVD.

Thank you for all of your help, the manual process for whatever reason worked just fine! I was able to go in and reset my password just like the remainder of the instructions stated.
A great product, please feel free to use me as a reference!
Thanks again.
