Hi,
We have lost the password to SBS2003 setup as a domain controller. I have purchased your corporate version, and run through the instructions. I have first reset the local password (a number of times), it found 2x password files, i have reset them both a nimber of times. when I restart in DSRM mode I am prompted for a username and password (not prompted for a domain, or local PC) I then enter administrator as the username and leave the password blank, however it will not authenticate using these details. I then tested this out on another server I know the password for, and noticed the DSRM password is that of the administrative active directory password, not the local password. Your instructions state "logging into the local machine and not the domain" - How can we make sure of this??? Hope you can help. Thanks, David. |

Hi David,
I double checked 2003 Server on a test machine like I mentioned in an email to you, and it is different than 2008, so it does not require the machine name to log in via DSRM which I was first thinking it did. After running the test, I remembered now that 2008 was where they made some changes to the login procedure compared to 03. As I said in my email to you, let me know if we can arrange a phone call via Skype so I can work with you further on fixing the server you are having problems with. I am in the US, so if you don't have Skype, I can call you from my Vonage phone instead, the rates are very low for international calling. Thanks, Dana |

Thanks for the email David, letting me know you were able to get your password removed and logged back in.
