Have old computer that used to be part of network. It is no longer connected so when it boots up still asks for password as though connecting to network. I ran password reset advanced and got all the way to item 1 - administrator password reset to blank. Software advised to removed CD and esc to reboot and it went to item 5 - support password reset. software was stuck in this loop so I manually shut down hoping the software had done its job but got same start up screen asking for password. Can you advise what to do now.

with thanks, get dry.gif

Hi Greg,

XP Pro will ask for a password even when you remove it. You have to enter the local username into the Username field, leave the Password field blank, and then change the Log on to domain setting to the one that says "this computer" next to it.

The local username you enter into the Username field will be the name you reset on the list my software displayed. Administrator for example is likely the one you reset.
