Title: LCD monitor question

Anyone have any experience with Chi Mei (CMV) monitors?

Reliability and longevity issues primarily.

TIA

I never heard of them but it is odd their website is in New Zealand?

I needed something fast, cheap and big, with reliablilty and longevity not a premium factor. The model is T38/A201P1 It's not WS, nor 4:3, but an inbetween enigma. No matter in this application. 20" at <$200 seemed a good buy. Time will tell. I may end up regretting this... it's a total throwaway if it goes belly-up.

Yeah, they DO seem popular in ausieworld! Yet they're made in Taiwan. :?:

Our state's computer distributors will buy anything from anywhere. Absolutely NO class at all!

All local computer distributors buy simply on price so your state is no different.

Initial impressions of it seem to show rather bright and somewhat crisp image, even at off-native res (within reason). It's no way pro graphics quality, but adequate enough for general purpose use.

I'll give it one of my 'Z-special' 100-hr burn in's. If it survives that, it should work for awhile... ;)

Well, it survived my little "acid-test". So I guess it'll work for awhile. This isn't indicative of all units or models, as I only have a sample of 1.

Well that is good to hear.
