Hmm, that behind the scenes video is interesting. The physics tech looks
very good... perhaps the best real time 3d physics that I've seen.
...But since when did Star Wars turn into a bad B action movie? Throwing a lightsaber at a tie fighter causes it to explode... what's next, shooting the gas tank on a landspeeder? :D
I'm glad that it looks to be programmed well, but I find the game's design itself ridiculous.
Ok, here is another interesting video of the same game:
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Trailer The trailer starts out promising... but if you watch for a minute you'll see that the video is total *BS*, even for Science Fiction.
Why? Ok, I'll tell you. :ohyeah:
Case in point: that's a star destroyer. There's no way a Star Destroyer will lurch like a model made of balsa wood and then get "force stopped" on a dime by some anonymous force user, even Vader's apprentice.
...Oh,I forgot, the force is "Unleashed". :bs:
*does research*
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
*returns*
As I said, that's a star destroyer. Those things are freaking huge. I had thought they were about the size of an aircraft carrier, but they are actually MUCH bigger:
Name: Imperial Star Destroyer
Type: capital starship
Length: 1600m (1 mile)
Weight/Mass: 25 million metric tons
Power System: Advanced Fusion System (estimated 20 year life span without refueling)
Crew: 36,810
Starcraft Carried: 72 Tie fighters (6 squadrons) and support craftFor comparison, the USS Ronald Reagan, the largest aircraft carrier in the world:
Name: USS Ronald Reagan
Type: naval aircraft carrier
Length: 333m (364 yards or 0.2 miles)
Weight/Mass: 104,000 tons (full load)
Power system: 2 Westinghouse A4W nuclear reactors (can go 20 years without refueling )
Crew: 5,680 (Ship's company: 3,200, Air wing: 2,480)
Aircraft Carried: over 80 combat aircraft and support craftOK, a star destroyer is
five times longer then an aircraft carrier. It is literally a mile long. No way it would lurch like that... (if the laws of mass and momentum still apply in the Star Wars Galaxy, that is) ...and if anything less then an army of Yodas tries to "force stop" it, it would run over them like a freight train. We've seen in multiple movies now (Eps 3 and 5) that via the force, the top masters like Yoda or Palpatine can toss around a car-sized object like a basketball. That is awesome, superpowers, but that's maybe a couple of tons of mass. An imperial Star destroyer is 25
million tons. I don't think force powers scale a millon times.... and that Yoda and Palpatine willingly operate at a millionth of their power potential when fighting each other; that is just too ridiculous.
Incidentally, how did he know to stand there? He knew EXACTLY where the ship would land. Yeah, right. :yeahright: These are powers far outside of what we've seen in the Star Wars universe... and if someone could have powers at this level in Star Wars... battles would turn out a whole lot differently. Vader would just drop Star Destroyers on army's heads. Game over.
Grrr, this is akin to Superman gaining the ability to push planets around in some incarnations.... ok, that's fine if you want to do an "ultimate power" offshoot version like that, but if you make it official and it throws the whole internal logic of the universe into disarrary.... It turns a well crafted fantasy universe into a pile of childish nonsensical stupidity.
But... you know what... according to the tech video "George" signed off on this. Bah! Me'thinks he just wants to collect more paychecks.
