Title: The Rules

POTR Admin - June 28, 2010 11:59 AM (GMT)
NOTE:Please read all the rules. A lot of it just common sense, but there’s always room for a reminder. You don’t need to search for a secret password or anything like that, but knowing all of this in advance will make your time here much more enjoyable.

REGISTRATION

<p><p>
» When registering, please do so with proper capitalisation. First, middle and last name. If for any reason your character doesn’t have a middle name, feel free to run it by the admins.
<p><p>
» Head on over and fill out an application. Topic titles should be formatted thus: Last, First Middle. Any applications not completed within three days get moved into the Pending folder. Applications remaining incomplete for a month will be archived and the account deleted.
<p><p>
» There are no character limits. You can take up as many as you feel you can reasonably handle, but if you want more than three, you must have at least one thread (active or archived) for each existing character before creating another one.
<p><p>
» Any character accounts that have no activity for over a month with proper notice will be deleted and the application archived. If you wish to reclaim your character, contact an admin to retrieve the original application.
<p><p>

POSTING

<p><p>
» When starting a thread, please tag the top of the post with the date, time and location. It makes it easier to keep track of things.
<p><p>
» Threads without replies within the space of a month will be moved to the archives. If you want to continue these threads, the admins will be quite happy to move them back for you.
<p><p>
» Please don’t change the size or font of the text in RP posts. It makes it difficult for some of us to read. On that note, if you’re going to use colours, please make sure they’re readable on this particular skin.
<p><p>
» All RP posts are to be in third person, past tense.
<p><p>
» Keep OOC and IC separate.
<p><p>
» Spelling and grammar: they’re your new best friends. Embrace them. Love them.
<p><p>
» Post as often as you can. We understand that sometimes real life gets in the way and on occasion your muse may leave for an extended holiday without prior notice – this is perfectly fine! Just give us a heads up if you’re going to be inactive for long periods of time.
<p><p>
» Having said that, patience is a virtue. Nobody likes to be pestered to post.
<p><p>
» No lengthy word requirements; a solid paragraph or two should do it. We prefer quality over quantity, as long as you provide enough for your RP partner to respond to.
<p><p>
» No godmodding and / or powerplaying without permission. Even with permission, caution is advised.
<p><p>
» Keep the time period in mind when playing. This is England in the 1940s, not modern day America. By all means enjoy your pretend fun times, but some degree of historical accuracy is very much appreciated.
<p><p>
» All canon deaths must be agreed upon by all the admins. The death of original characters is at the creator’s discretion. Pregnancies – planned or otherwise – are completely up to you, but keep in it in character and in time. If we find that there are too many sproglets and mass death taking place, we’ll be forced to take action.
<p><p>
ANIMALS

<p><p>
» Each student is permitted to bring an owl, a toad or a cat to keep as pet during his stay at the school. Many students prefer to bring owls, as they are good at delivering the messages by post. In exceptional cases, some other small pets may also be allowed.
<p><p>
Allowable pets
<p><p>
Cats, owls, rats, farrets, mice, hamsters, toads, frogs, small turtles -- basically anything small that students can keep in their dorm while in class.
<p><p>
» All other animals will NOT be permitted. So please don't ask if you can be an exception. The answer will be no. Only small animals.
<p><p>

GRAPHICS

<p><p>
» Avatars can be up to 150x200. Signatures shouldn’t stretch the board. Use common sense and keep it tasteful.
<p><p>
» There are many, many wonderful resources for graphics. Be sure to credit and rehost if you’re required to.
<p><p>
» We prefer our PBs to be actors and models. If your character is an established HP canon, please try to keep their appearance consistent. James Potter wears glasses. Lucius Malfoy is blond. Severus Snape will probably not be winning America’s Next Top Model. That sort of thing.
<p><p>

THE C-BOX

<p><p>
» The c-box skips between IC and OOC. It might be a bit confusing at first, but the more time you spend among the insanity, the easier it’ll be to differentiate between one and the other.
<p><p>
» We here love the c-box. Aside from the usual contact point between members, it’s also used for IC interaction. C-box RP is merely a fun tool for quick character development and to test the waters, see how your character may interact. Whatever happens in the c-box stays there, unless you feel the urge to thread it and make it official.
<p><p>

COMMON COURTESY, YES?

<p><p>
» We’ve kept the best til last! Respect your fellow members and your lovely admins. If a problem arises, please keep it off the board or contact the admins. Keep in mind that if no compromise can be reached, one or both parties may be suspended for a few days to allow for cooling off.
<p><p>
» Have lots and lots of fun! That’s what you’re here for and that’s the most important part, yes?</div>
