Title: May as well introduce myself
MD1618 - April 21, 2011 08:54 PM (GMT)
I've been a long-time occasional visitor, lurking in the LotR MST forum after I figured out this is where jules17 moved her MSTs to. I'll probably continue that behavior, except now I'm registered and can comment and maybe post one or two of my old MSTs as well. (Except I don't have the permission of the authors, or even the username in some cases . . . that doesn't feel kosher . . . ah well.)
I used to do the occasional spork on deleterius on LJ (under a different username). Eventually, however, I had to admit that I wasn't holding to the format very well, as I had a tendency to snark on every little thing that caught my attention. And it was starting to take up too much of my time and energy, so I stopped. Hopefully this place won't be a problem for me in that regard. ;)
So, um, hi everyone! :)

Hi! Nice to meet you. :-) I'm also a semi-lurker at the moment, but I'm trying to get less lurky. (And don't worry about the sporks. I think a lot of people here don't have the original authors permission.)
MackenzieW - April 21, 2011 10:00 PM (GMT)
We don't require you to get the original author's permission. And I highly doubt they'd give it.
So, welcome and enjoy the MSTs!
PS: What was your name on deleterius? I was a lurker over there.

Hi, MD! Always good to see new faces around here. Enjoy yourself, and don't worry about that author permission. As Mac said, we don't require it. Like, at all. :wasntme: Welcome!

I'd rather keep the accounts totally separate, but I can PM my LJ username if you're really curious. ;)

Don't blame you. I actually PMed everyone who wanted it my Facebook account because it's under my real name. So, yes, you can PM me.

I've been reading the forum, first as a lurker, then I decided to join. I'm not really a fanfic reader, they never interested me much. I'm not very adept at many fandoms, my major one being LotR; yes, I've read the books. In English I might add, even though English is not my first language. I think it prudent to point the book-reading part out after browsing this highly entertaining forum, especially the LotR MST section. Oh PJ, what hast thou wrought?
I also like Labyrinth, Star Trek TNG, Star Wars, and D & D games. Yes, I'm a die-heart RPG gamer. Oh dear, let's not forget the Doctor. We simply can't have that. There are more, but I can't think of them right now.
How did I land here, not being a fanfic reader/writer? Well, I did some research on LotR and googled "Celebrian". I shall spare you the search result, the drunken binge, the horrible hang-over, followed by the generous application of eye-wash and brain-bleach. I so wish there was an 'unsee' and/or 'unread' function in my brain. Worst of all, I didn't even get further than page one before skipping to the last page to see how this horrible thing ended. I wish I hadn't. Dear heavens, why did I do that?
I wanted to investigate what further atrocities were committed against some of my favorite fandoms, and landed here. I'm glad about that, it restored my lost faith in humanity greatly, and I thank you all.
I was introduced to the Mystery Theater show when I went to study in the USA for a while. I loved that show, and I love your version of it.

Hi Sabriana, and welcome to our forum! :)
I'm Refie, one of the two admins of this place, the other being Mackenzie (Mac for friends and for short), who'll you'll probably meet very soon. She's basically our most active member and contributor at the moment.
Anybody is welcome here, even if fanfics don't interest you much, as long as you like the MSTs, you'll fit right in here, they're the coming thing that binds us.
I feel very sorry for you, having witnessed Celebrian. Though on a positive note I can assure you that you have seen the worst of the worst and nothing comes even close to it, so if you survived that you can survive the rest (except for maybe "Stuck in Middle Earth", my personal enemy). It's indeed unfortunate that what has been seen cannot be unseen, I know I wished I could after I read Celebrian, the un-sporked version. Horror!
I'm glad we could restore some of that faith in humanity, you'll find that many of us here have little left ourselves. ("Stuck in Middle Earth", aaargh!)
So welcome again, hop in wherever you want and don't be shy. There's little rules here, and you'll find we tend to go off-topic a lot. :P
Welcome!

Welcome! I'm Amarth, a Tolkien geek and relatively new member here. I'm also a D&D and Metal fan.
Ah, your first clash with bad fanfiction, and it had to be "Celebrian"...one couldn't blame you if you never looked at a fanfic again. I'm glad that this site helped with the therapy.
Sabriana - July 20, 2011 11:57 AM (GMT)
Thank you, Refia. I've gone to the fanfic.net forum since then, and there are quite a few good stories there. I particularly enjoy the MS ribbing.
I read MELH here, and then went right on to THOS. That's why it took me so long to introduce myself. I had to get rid of the bottles first (recycling is a must, you know), clear my head, take a few aspirin, you know, the works.
I agree about the horrifying stories that girl cranks out - they beat syrup of ipecac at anytime. Why is she still writing? Shouldn't her keyboard shrink from her in horror? Commit harakiri? Beg for a quick death? Oh well. The dread-fic lives on.
I wish to apologize to the thread starter. I meant to click on 'new topic', but my aim seems to have been off. I did not intent to barge in on your introduction thread, MD. I'm very sorry about that. Perhaps we can share it?
That's what I get for posting on the fly.
Edited to thank Amarth as well. I'm quite sure that if I hadn't come across this site rather quickly after Cele... Celeb... that fic, I'd never have looked at another fanfic ever again.
