Phantom's Ange, Seriously, let's discuss

By the way. Did you know that PA has an almost-twin Phantom Ange?

I don't know about her writing, but judging by her fanfic 'A Woman or a Cat' for The Cat Returns, she's a bad author... I mean, come on, Haru lusting over Baron and jumping off the tower just to stay with him? Puh-lease...

Angey is one of those you just can't stand, even though you know there's worse. mainly because sh has issues that she seems to write, badly, into characters.

I hate Phantom's Ange for three main reasons:

1. She ruins the characters of whatever fandom she writes for. I actually cried when she had Boromir attempt to rape Rosa in an earlier version of her story. Her portrayal of the hobbits as children--particularly of Frodo as a pansy--is disgusting. I wouldn't mind Rosa so much if the Fellowship hated her and constantly called her down for her rudeness, but they don't. In fact, they love her for it and think what she says is funny.

2. I tried to help her by beta-ing her third version of "An Elf's Love". I couldn't change the general format of the story, but I tried to fix her grammar and straighten out the lapses of logic. Eventually, I admit I got fed up when she took down that version, and told her I couldn't be her beta anymore. When she posted the present version, I was kind to her, pointing out things that needed fixing--and how did she repay me? By the typical "i cn rite whtver i wnt!!111" message, and new chapters that were every bit as bad as the old ones. That was when I gave up being kind to her. She's an ungrateful, stubborn, bitchy little fanbrat, and I began to treat her as such.

3. This is actually more contempt than hatred: she has not matured at all. It has been three years since her first version of "An Elf's Love" was posted, and she has not learned to create better characters and plots, she hasn't learned to do research, she still doesn't understand the concept of canon-rape. That is sad. If she was twelve or thirteen when she posted her first version of "An Elf's Love," she would be fifteen or sixteen right now. I would bet she hasn't read a single book since fourth grade or so. And yet she seems to think she's a great writer. God knows how she does in English class; she probably gets crappy grades on everything she turns in and then whines about how "omg!!11 so MEAN" the teacher is for giving her D's and F's.

She definitely has problems and needs serious psychiatric help.

Yep, you mentioned another reason she annoys me. She hasn't grown out of her obssessive Fangirl stage and hasn't improved her writing. I mean at 13 or 14 obssessive fangirls are what most girls are, but by 15 most have grown out of it or keep it to themselves. Also she doesn't improve her writing no matter what people tell her, if people keep telling her it's bad she should realise either she needs to take people's advice or just quit writing.

Seriously, someone should try to create a ff.net account called 'Orlando Bloom' and send her a heated PM or so containing all the reasons why she's bad. And then sign it as the real OB of course. Alas, impersoning someone else isn't allowed on ff.net, I fear. *sigh* Too bad, really, for Orlando Bloom may be the only one PA would ever listen to. XD

I doubt she'd even listen to Orlando Bloom if he told her in person (nicely, that is, not that he's ever nasty); I once told her that she should stop writing her story, if only for his sake, since her story and its kind are the reason so many LotR fans hate him and it's unfair on him that he should bear the brunt of such hate just because the bad writing of her and her ilk are affecting people's judgement. She just ignored me.

Another thing about Angey which annoys me: She sees only the surface value of people and judges them by their hotness, while failing to notice what truly makes them special; their characters.

I also hate the fact that she tells people to ask her for permission before using the pictures/songs she uses, even though they don't belong to her.

Reading a bit more of Mack's MST of THOS I encounetred another reason why PA makes me mad.

What rubs me the wrong way about PA the most is that she isn't even bothering to improve anymore. She must have had at least a hundred reviews detailing why her writing stinks, and I think she knows it by now. Knows, but doesn't care. She's given up all pretense of writing for the love of writing, or even for enjoyment, like some people do. Now, she writes to pretend she's the heroine. Honestly, her bad writing wouldn't bother me so much if she at least tried to make it better. After a bunch of versions, the story is still the same amount of horrible it was before.

I, like Jules, attempted to beta her once, the version she has up right now, in fact. At first, she followed my advice, not all of it (if she'd followed all of it she'd have given it up in the first place) but some. She actually added in a language barrier, and didn't make Rosa get stabbed. Then suddenly, she changed it, and when I asked her about it, she said, basically, "It's my story, not theirs!" After that, of course, I quit. The e-mail I sent her when I did wasn't the most polite, and I regret that, but I'm not helping her out again, that's for sure!

(By the way, just out of curiousity, how many times has An Elf's Love been rewritten?)

Another thing that annoys me about her is the bad image she pushes onto 15/16 year olds. I mean she may not be that age but we all guess she is so all the stick from her and it being her age goes onto 15/16 year olds.

Queen, it's at least been six. Right? Or did I miss a few? I honestly don't care that she's writing such garbage. It's her funeral, you know? But what makes me mad is the whole fangirl bratish behaviour. I'm so glad I'm not in the teenage age group anymore. She gives teens a bad rap.

I wouldn't be so annoyed with her if she'd listen to advise. To improve you need to listen to what people say not go 'it's mine so ill do what i want'
