I've come up with scenes in bed. Heck, I've come up with entire stories in bed. But yes, I often forget them as well. I can't write straight out either. I have a whole system on how I write. I mess around on the internet for a bit, write a sentence or a paragraph or two.

"Stop the damn texting and pick up a book!"--Grandmama, "The Addams Family" (Musical)

"Tomorrow will be better for as long as America keeps alive the ideals of freedom and a better life." —Walt Disney

"Out on the Mira on soft summer nights
Bonfires blaze to the children's delight
They dance round the flames singing songs with their friends
I wish I was with them again

And over the ashes the stories are told
Of witches and werewolves and Oak Island gold
The stars on the river they sparkle and spin
I wish I was with them again

Can you imagine a piece of the universe
More fit for princes and kings?
I'll give you ten of your cities
For Marion Bridge and the pleasure it brings"--Song for the Mira by John McDermott, performed by Celtic Thunder

Ever get an idea in the shower and then think you'll remember it once you get out? But by the time you dry off and change, its already gone? I've actually gotten out of the shower and wrote down key words on toilet paper. laugh.gif

No. I usually remember the things in the shower. I can up with the idea for a plausible tenth walker in there.

oh nice. Lucky you...I get so absorbed in thoughts of the day that I end up forgetting the story ideas that I get while I'm in there. Oh? Plausible 10th walker? Really?

Yeah, the main character would be a ranger who felt that he was worthy enough to be part of the Fellowship of the Ring. To prove so, he sneaks off and trails them, hoping for a chance to shine and be the hero. However, once he gets to Moria, he becomes more of a problem as now Gandalf has to get nine others out and one is just itching for a fight. He hears the call fo the Ring, which promises to make him the hero that he wants to be. His plans to get the Ring are thwarted when the troll attacks the Fellowship, where he is defeated and rescued by Aragorn. Thus starts his humbling experience which continues as in Lothlorien, he offers to come to protect Frodo, to make up for almost attacking the Hobbit. Aragorn agrees, stressing though that he isn't a part of the Fellowship. He bonds with Boromir, recognizing the same proud, noble spirit he has and the weakness to the Ring. And I'm still working on the rest, where he goes in the Two Towers and what he does in the Return of the King.

Hey... that'd be pretty interesting. I'd read it. Good idea! smile.gif What do you think of this DW fanfic idea that I have?

Jack is not the only non-local being the Doctor and Rose meet in 1941. A captain from the Gijadori System a couple light years away crashes on Earth after hitting a time stream when her ship passes through it on the way to a battle, as the entire System is at war with each other. Stranded in 1941, she slowly beings to piece her ship back together with no success but does manage to get her scanner for alien tech to work. When she turns it on, she finds one signal at Albion Hospital and another heading towards the hospital. She meets Jack, the Doctor and Rose and helps with the gas mask problem. The Doctor offers to give her a lift back to her own system, but she ends up travelling with them instead. Her travels don't last long as she gets killed in Russia during the DW novel The Deviant Strain. I was thinking about writing it up till just before the Deviant Strain story and then having it switch to 2008 with Gwen walking in on Jack in his office looking through a box of pictures and one if them is of the four of them and Gwen asks about it.

Sounds interesting. I haven't read The Deviant Strain, but it sounds like it could work.

I guess I could continue working on my tenth walker. Hmm...

Caranthol, I listen to Hans Zimmer's music when I write as well. smile.gif Only instead of King Arthur (I've only got four tracks of that), I use Pirates of the Caribbean.

I get stories in the shower all the time, and I keep repeating them over and over in my head until I lose track of the time. laugh.gif It gets quite wet in there.

The Deviant Strain is my favourite one. It involves this small Russian naval base that had been abandoned. There's this huge story about Russian vampires... smile.gif It's awesome.

I wrote for Into the Battlefield all last night... it was insane... no idea where all the creative energy came from! I did have good music playing... gotta love Radio 1.

I get ideas for stories mostly during boring lectures or walking. My friends have already wondered why I constantly draw medieval warriors and like while they are making notes smile.gif It's strange how ideas come to me. If I try spesifically to invent a plot, nothing comes up, but after a while a whole scene pops up in my head, usually some action scene or a conversation. Then I just begin to think how to enlarge it into a complete story.

Sounds good Ari, Deviant Strain is a brilliant book.

Hmm, I prefer to listen to musicals while I write, particularly while MSTing but whiel writing generally. It inspires me and I always find musicals help me relax. Oh and I forget story ideas all the time, I get them one minute and before I have chance to write them down they're gone. It's quiet fustrating.

I have to be careful about what music I listen to when I'm writing. If I stay on BBC Radio 1, I'm fine. If I put in the X-Files soundtrack, it gets really bloody and horrific and if I put in the Sting CD for The Soul Cages, it gets sad and depressing. So, when I need to write a big sad sequence, The Soul Cages becomes my best friend. smile.gif

It's the same for me, only with classical. Wagner or Richard Strauss for epic and heroic scenes, Sibelius or Tschaikovsky for descriptions of nature and travels in woods etc.

Mine will vary on what I'm writing and that often reflects my mood as I write more poetry at the moment based around how I feel. Things like 'I Don't Know How To Love Him', 'Close Every Door' or 'One Day More' if I'm feeling a bit down. 'Hosanna', 'Any Dream Will Do' or 'Master of the House' if I'm feeling happy and hyper. Most of the songs from 'Cats' if I'm really upbeat or something from 'Phantom of the Opera' if I'm feeling romantic.

I love Classical music... a lot. And when I say a lot... I mean, a whole lot but for some reason I can't listen to it when I'm writing a story. Now classical music works wonders when I'm writing or doing some reading for class, but I end up getting distracted when I'm writing fanfics... it's strange.
