So, I've been floating around for a while now, trying to figure out what I'm going to put in my portfolio, and now I've just decided to make it and work on it as I go.

I'm Railenthe Y. Zeal, often shortened to some form of the first name, or to YunaZeal (the Y for the middle initial, the Z split off of it for a surname.) I write a bit of everything; I've written romance, angst, supernatural, general, fanfiction—when I say a bit of everything, I mean it. I like taking challenges, especially when they're cracked out.

I don't have a favored genre; I just write what comes up and, if I like it, I see how far I can take it. I'm also a ridiculous blogger. Some of the silliest things that I've written have actually happened. And, I like to experiment with different styles and techniques. happy.gif It occasionally makes for strangeness in the extreme.

*_*_*

Things coming soon:

~This November: Tarot Card Chronicles.

As a prompt, sometimes I like to take a deck of Tarot cards, and pluck one out of a deck. When I do that I either write a handful of words that pop into mind; or I freewrite on it.
I'll place it off to the side of the monitor, somewhere where nothing important is going on on screen, and then write for as long as I can on what the card gives me impressions of. I'll be picking up the practice again beginning in November, when I pick up a new deck =D

Kupo, 28-October! I got the Tarot cards! Here are pictures of the cards, to give an idea of the artwork. The countdown begins.

To commenters—Be brutally honest. If I botch somehow I want to know.

Riku's Stalker—a Kingdom Hearts II Fan-fiction
♪ Rated PG (for pushing and shoving xD) It's a little bit weird, written on a challenge.

Seer
♪ Rated PG-13 for some language and subtle innuendo. Supernatural fantasy; a new seer awakens after an encounter with his god.

Iron Chef Auldrant
♪ Rated PG-13 for language. Luke finally decides to learn how to cook. Sometimes it doesn't go so well.

Today's Additions (1 October 2008)

Yes! Productivity Rules.

Burning Blood
♫ Excerped from what I hope will turn into a novel. It's dark and more than a little bit creepy. =D

New story!

Fugue

♫ An experimental second-person story. What happens when you're alone at work, and everything starts go go wrong?

16 October!

Betrothed
♫ I wrote this responding to a prompt that LaLa provided. I'm usually rotten at this stuff but the combination of listening to Ishq and looking at this picture got me possessed.

Week of 20 October updates, kupo!

Sundive

♫ This week, I'm going to be writing some poetry. I noticed that I often think in haikus, so I decided to do a few of them. My favorite topics for these little treasures of Japanese form are natural phenomena and stellar phenomena.

Sundive is the first of these. It's a gentle homage to the god of the sun. happy.gif

♫ Up: 23-October, on the same page as the last one, is a new haiku, Moonbath.

Moonbathing is one of my favorite things to do, actually. I kept getting the mental image of someone sleeping in the moonlight, and this popped into my head.

I just read Fugue: first of all, yay it's in second person! Those are fun. It was really great, and you said it was on the fly? A lot of horrorish stories are ruined because the reader knows exactly what's going to happen next, however I was genuinely surprised in some parts (my body being almost dead for example).

I also liked how you didn't answer everything, I got to think for myself (the ghost/shadow people, I'm guessing they hadn't returned to their bodies yet? Like me when I was trying to clean the mirror?) Another note: I really like the paragraph that starts with this: 'You’re not doing nearly as well as you would like now.' I'm not sure why, I think it's because it was particularily realistic for me in the second person: that's exactly what I would have done.
So all in all, I applaud your experiment :]

Some stuff to change:
'It is in the second room that you finish that you notice that something is seriously amiss' I was anticipating something even after reading that my headache had gotten horribly worse. I think it was the words 'notice' and 'amiss.' It gave me the feeling that I took a double take or something and saw something strange, instead of my pain intesifying.

'In this room, you start seeing more shadowy things like that: people waking in where they have no business' I think the creepy effect would be doubled here if you showed these things happening like you did with the little boy running. I would elaborate with just one or two more sentences, simply because I'd be pretty freaked if it really happened and would focus more on these ghost/shadows.

'it creates in your vision is something unholy' I'd use a different word, as unholy was used in the sentence before.
'An exhaustion passes over you, and you slump over your body, exhausted' Just get rid of the last exhausted.
So pretty much just proof-read it once more and you'll probably catch some more things.

Oof. First off, thanks for commenting, and second off, how'd I miss those??? *massive sweatdrop.* I've been going back on some things I've had issues on lately, and that's…one I missed.

I'm sooo going back to fix those things, that's for certain. Especially since I meant to type walking, and not 'waking.' That one I just missed the keyboard. XD

*edits*

I've restructured that fisrt point a bit. It works a little better than it did before now.

I've elaborated a bit on the hallucination/ghost/shadows/(leaving it to the reader to decide). It's a little creepier.

Moved to strike the first 'unholy' from the record. On second glance, the sentence was rather clunky. ^^;

Moved to strike that last 'exhausted.' happy.gif

I'm going to do some more checking when I don't have an algebra class to get to. happy.gif

EDIT: 28-October: I didn't realize that I'm cross-posted for Fugue. I'm still editing, and refining, therefore. ^^;;;;

Zephyr (Wind) – A haiku

♫ I didn't get as many of them done as I would have liked during the last week of October, but that doesn't mean that I am stopping. (That, and when I listen to Ishq's Cyandragonfly, the muses wake up.) Zephyr, simply put, is what I heard one fine day sleeping under the trees with open-ear headphones on listening to said track. In that strange mix of half-sleeping-half-awake, it is easy to 'see' the color of the wind as it drifts through.
