I was just browsing around the site, seeing if this place was for me, and was incredibly disappointed. This is a website for writers, but there's numerous spelling and grammar mistakes forum-wide. You should look through them and really clean the place up, because it detracts from the overall quality of the board.

Also, the "rankings" don't make an ounce of sense to me. Are they ranked by skill? If so, who is anyone to judge anyone else when it comes to writing? What makes someone better than someone else?

As a standard Member I feel qualified only to answer the first question. So, here I go.

The site is geared toward all writers, of all skill levels. That means that we will be seeing levels from total newbs to the pleasures of the literary world, to those who have gained elite status. (I claim to be neither of these, just a girl writing for the fun of it and hoping to get somewhere when she does it.)

Keeping that in mind, there will be all kinds of things that you might see here, from the mindblowingly awesome writer who doesn't seem to need any sort of help from anyone, to those who just need a little push in the right direction to get started on the path to greatness. (Ergh, I just had to backspace because I typed "For Great Justice." </geek!>) Rather than bash, offer some constructive criticism and point out the mistakes where they occur. No one learns without someone to help teach, after all.

The rankings are explained early no in the site in the "Groups" section. That's about all I know about the groups, really. When more of us get our portfolios judged and then placed into our groups they will become clearer.

Hope I've made any sense at all. If not *shrugs* I did what I could.

Yes, this is a forum for writers. Writers write. There is no rule-written, or unwritten-that claims all writers as editors. You don't need an ounce of spelling ability to write what swirls through, over, and around your head. Sure, it isn't grammatically correct, to place a comma where it doesn't belong; but, because you don't place that little claw in between "Sure thing" and "man" doesn't mean you didn't write the words yourself.

Truthfully, it adds a little something to the board. Could one be considered human and not make mistakes? At least you know that we aren't all cybertronic-systems made of PC board and speaker wire.

With this under consideration, you must know that even the greatest of writers have that one greasy man-the one that could hold entire conversations about the history of the semicolon-whom sits in the shadows and works diligently-meticulously-to catch even the most surreptitious of slanders.

The point is, don't judge a writer by his grammatical error but by his ideals; we don't write to be ridiculed, we write to be free.
