At first, i swear that i though that those glitchy marks were camo paints biggrin.gif but then again, lots of the Leon's Skins from the SafeHouse Skin Pack are acting like this. What's happening?

You can't have the exact same colour RGB value on each TIM section.
If you have save say a single red pixel in TIM section one as 255,0,0 then you'll need to use 254,0,0 in section two and 253,0,0 in section three etc,
I hope you get the jist, Enrcio, Whatsamatta and Mark already explained it, the latest BIOFAT was make to this process alot simplier irc as it'll merge seperate TIM sections together.

Right, it is an issue with some graphics cards. Basically the gun texture gets applied to page 1 of the TIM and also includes 10~16 odd colours for its texture which overwrite the last 10~16 colours for palette 1 (note I work in binary so there is a Palette 0, 1 and 2).

Some graphics cards, like ATI, are usually pretty awesome and do not care that Palette 1 is using all 256 colours and that there is additional colours added via the gun texture.

Usually I've seen this issue with Nvidia cards, mainly old TNTs and Geforces, though my 6800GT and 8800GTXs never seemed to have this problem.

One fix is to only use a maximum of 245 or 210 colours on Palette 1.

Would be interesting to know your Graphics Card, version of RE2 and card setting.

I get same problem on my GeForce 2 - MX/MX 400
try the Barry / Raz, Prototype Leon and Sherry skins I made they should show up fine, to me they look better with the dark shader effect turned off.

Yeah, had the "Plague" with a Geforce 2 MX440 before. Think it has something to do with how the games graphics engine + Card handles the textures in ram. For some reason I get the impression that newer cards/ATI cards just dump all necessary textures to their ram at true colour ignoring if they had a CLUT (Colour Look Up Table). Its the only explanation I can think of. Sadly it means that some people can't use certain stuff. Like my old 16bit colour elza's before I went back to 256 colour palettes and limiting palette 1.

My old Riva TNT 2 (Nvidia) works fine (Window 98SE, only tested with the German version of Resident Evil 2).

Well Enrico, since my computer is dead a long ago and i'm still bulding another piece by piece, i'm using a Netbook for acessing the internet and playing my old RE games.

It's a Spanish (imported, since i'm brazilian) Packard Bell Dot S Netbook, with the default Intel GMA 3150 for graphics. And i'm using the *P version.

EDIT: I just got it! I've "cured the plague" just by switching the game to 3D Rage Pro, just like Enrico said in another topic. The game is running great and the plague is gone.
