Can`t help about running RE1 on Win7. For me it works. If it does not, download and use the patch I`ve already posted above wink.gif That one fixed most issues on newer PCs.

sorry but this topic isn`t about rdttool.

If you have problems regarding RDTtool then write MarkGrass who is the author of the programm or open a new topic asking for help with rdttool here:

Don`t know what`s still the problem for you with running RE1 on win7. It`s working for me, and I have no problem with all versions that are supported by BIO1GPS at all.

Read this instruction text that you normally already should have if you downloaded the patch:

RESIDENT EVIL pc cd-rom patch version 1.00c

Developed by Capcom Co., Ltd
Published By Virgin Interactive Entertainment (Europe) Ltd.

The original name of the zip file containing this Resident Evil patch was pauk_0047.zip

This patch was originally created to improve the performance of the European PC release of Resident Evil, however it may also be used for the United States release.

INSTALLING RESIDENT EVIL ON NEW MICROSOFT OS
1. To install Resident Evil on a new Microsoft Windows OS you must first insert the game into your CD drive, and then browse the CD using windows explorer.
2. Next right click the "Setup.exe" and "Launch.exe" icon files and click properties, next click on the Compatibility Tab and choose Windows 95 or Windows 98 / Windows Me Compatibility Mode, finally Click OK.
3. To start the installation of the game, double click the "Setup.exe" icon. The red install screen should appear, press "Alt + F4" to bypass the error message and display the Video Card selection Window.
4. When you see the prompt to install an old version of DirectX click No and continue with the installation.
5. Now that the game is installed follow the guidelines below for updating the game with the patch.

INSTALLING PATCH ON NEW MICROSOFT OS
Extract the contents of this ZIP file to the directory that Resident Evil is
installed to (normally C:\PROGRAM FILES\RESIDENT EVIL)

You will need to BROWSE the Resident Evil CD for a file called "Font2.tim" copy this file to the directory Resident Evil is installed to.

To play Resident Evil double-click on the file "Neweur.exe" in the Resident Evil directory on your computer. (before attempting to play Resident Evil on a new Microsoft OS make sure that you have clearly read the Compatibility and Card Setup section below)

COMPATIBILITY AND CARD SETUP
To play Resident Evil on a new Microsoft OS you will have to set the file "Neweur.exe" to Windows 95 or Windows 98 / Windows Me compatibility mode before you launch the game.
It's possible to force Resident Evil to use a particular 3D card, this maybe useful if the game fails to recognise your 3D card or while you are playing the game freezes or crashes back to the windows desktop.
This is done by launching the game by using one of the following commands...

Neweur.exe /?  show help
Neweur.exe /version  show version of game
Neweur.exe /nocard1  no acceleration video memory version
Neweur.exe /nocard2  no acceleration system memory version

To use the commands follow these steps...

1. Right click on the 'Start Button' and select 'Explore'.
2. Double left click on 'Programs'.
3. Double left click on 'Capcom'.
4. Double left click on 'Resident Evil'.
5. Right click on Resident Evil and select 'Properties'.
6. When the properties window appears, select the 'Shortcut' tab at the top.
7. Add one of the above commands to the 'Target' box (ensure you keep the whole directory path line in tact). If you accidentally erase the whole line then click 'Cancel' and repeat from step 5.
8. Click 'Apply' and then 'OK'.

Please note the location of the Resident Evil file is only applicable if you have chosen to install
the game in the default path offered. If you have selected to install the game elsewhere then you
will need to adjust points 3 and 4 accordingly.

Command Line Display Modes
When you decide to double click the Resident Evil shortcut icon to play the game using the Compatibility mode along with the command line parameters /nocard1 or /nocard2 you will be given the option to launch the game with one of the following five display modes:

320 x 240 WindowMODE
640 x 480 WindowMODE
320 x 240 16 BitColor FullscreenMODE (optional)
640 x 480 16 BitColor FullscreenMODE
640 x 480 (320x240) FullscreenMODE (recommended)

PATCH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (original)
1. Copy the Resident Evil patch files onto a floppy disk.
2. Insert the disk into your floppy drive and double-click on the ‘My Computer’ icon. Then double-click on the 3½ Floppy (A:) icon.
3. Using the mouse choose EDIT and then choose SELECT ALL from the menu.
4. Again choose EDIT and then select COPY.
5. Go back to ‘My Computer’ and this time select the C: drive. Open the folder called Program Files and then open the folder called Resident Evil.
6. Again go to EDIT, this time choose PASTE and wait for the files to be copied into the directory.
7. Go back to ‘My Computer’ and double-click on the Resident Evil CD (shown by a Zombie head icon and called Res_Evil)
8. Find the file called Font2.tim and click on it once with the left mouse button, so that it is highlighted.
9. Again choose EDIT and then COPY.
10. Go back to ‘My Computer’ and once again select the C: drive, then open the Program Files folder and then the Resident Evil folder.
11. Select EDIT and then PASTE. Once the file has been copied across, close down all the open windows and return to the Windows 95 desktop.

Once the patch has been installed use the following steps to play the game.
1. Double-click on the ‘My computer’ icon and then select the C: drive.
2. Open the Program Files folder and then open the Resident Evil folder.
3. Double-click on the NewEur.exe file to start the game.

If the game speed is too fast then it is possible that there is a conflict between installed software on your system such as a CPU frequency applet.
You should enable maximum speed from your CPU trough the applet or just temporarily close the software before proceeding to play the game.

For more support information please check the readme.txt file provided on the game cd or visit:
