I am starting a series that will address how to get the most out of the board. I fear that many people are not all that aware of how to find new posts since their last visit and this will help them find those new posts and topics. There are a couple of ways to determine new posts. The first and most obvious way is to look at the icons on the main page. The button with the "G" for Golden, tells you that there are
no new posts since your last visit in that "Forum".

The moving film strip tells you that there
are new posts within that forum.

Now you can click into the forum, or if you look on the righthand side, the last post within that "forum" is posted. However if you only look at that post you might miss other new posts within the forum. For the obvious reason that only
one post can be displayed and that is the very last post within that forum that was posted. So when you click into a forum this symbol on the left hand side means that there are NEW posts (or topics) in that topic thread since your last visit.

This icon means that there are none:

or that you have already read it. Please notice that the icon for new posts is dark blue and no new is light blue. By observing this you can easily see what posts are new.
Another and probably easier way is to use the board feature called
My Assistant. This is a feature that I am sure most overlook and are not even aware exists or what it does.
My Assistant is located just BELOW the banner and below where it says Calender on the right hand top of the page. Look up please and observe. if you click My Assistant you will notice a smaller window open up. Maximize that window. Once maximized you will see 5 options available to you:
· The moderating team
· Today's active topics
· Today's top 10 posters
· Overall top 10 posters
· My last 10 posts
By clicking on
Today's Active topics all new posts since your last visit will display in your original window for the board (leave the
My Assistant minimized on your desktop so you don't have to reopen it again). Then you can click through any topics or threads you are interested in. You can use your "Back" button the browser to return to the list of new posts. Notice also that you can also easily view all your own last 10 posts in case you want to check threads you have been involved in.
If you have any questions about this topic feel free to post them in this thread and I will reply ASAP. I hope this will be of help to you all.
