Title: FAVE GENRE
Description: Type of movie
Classic Movie Man - October 22, 2006 01:09 PM (GMT)
I went with comedy as it started me in my love for classic film though I love movies in all the genres.
Geoffies - October 22, 2006 03:40 PM (GMT)
I went for musicals although I too like most genres.
Angel2121 - October 22, 2006 05:03 PM (GMT)
I like many different genres, too, but I think that I like dramas best.
blanche-2 - October 22, 2006 08:26 PM (GMT)
I like film noir, I like mystery/suspense films, and really good comedies the most.

I can't really choose. I love all genres (except horror, and that really depends on what type of horror movie it is). :(

It's kind of a tough draw for me, but I voted for horror, because I like horror of all kinds: classic as well as modern! In all actuality, I am basically more of a drama person in many ways too (I guess horror is pretty dramatic)! I like a few other genres too, however, such as thriller and action, but horror has to be my all-time, absolute, definite favorite!

Like everyone else, I like many different genres, but went with comedy because a good comedy is what I enjoy most when it comes to classic film. Second would be drama.

I went with general drama because it can mean alot of things, and that's the closest I can come to naming a favorite genre. Crime, Film-Noir, Thriller, Western, Advanture, Romance, Soap-Opera, Epic etc. - it can mean any of those. I am capable of liking a film from any genre, alot of them just as much as others, so I couldn't possibly choose one favorite.

Wow, tough call there. I went with "Crime" because I love the early gangster genre, as well as the later crime/film noir dramas, so that about covers it. I might have gone with "horror" as that was probably my first intro to classic films, but I probably like more modern crime films (some of them anyway, like THE GODFATHER, GOODFELLAS, etc) better than similar period horror films. And then crime/detective films were probably my second genre that got me interested in classic films...but really I love all those genres, with the exception of musicals, and even then, I like some films from that genre now as well. So really....LOVE em all!!!!

Difficult to choose between Westerns and Crime/Gangster movies, often i'll be on a Western kick then Gangster and so on, therefore it's a tie.

I voted for the 'Fantasy' genre. Although the golden age didn't make that many fantasy films, there are still plenty from the golden age that are gems.
I like many different genres, though...Drama, Horror, Romance, Film Noir, Comedy, Western, Thriller, and Epic. One genre, with a few exceptions, that I generally don't care for is Musicals. Back-stage musicals are a different story though. I love 42ND STREET.

I went with comedy...although I love dramas and romances just as much. Also love alot of action/adventure films and crime/gangster films.
fxpettijohn - July 22, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
I voted for Westerns first although I really like comedy , film noir among others
dvdjunkie - July 23, 2007 01:39 AM (GMT)
We should have been allowed our favorite three genres, and then it would not have been so hard just picking one. Needless to say, I prefer Westerns, but a good old-fashioned comedy doesn't often get by me, and film noir of the 40s and 50s probably ranks right up there also.
For now, I am on a real Westerns kick, watching a lot of Randolph Scott westerns.

Westerns. Followed closely by drama, then crime/film-noir.

I chose comedy since its films like The Philadelphia story and Bringing up Baby that got me into my love of classic films. Also comedy films are the genre in which most of my films fall into.

I haven't cast a vote because I found the categories too broad to choose from. For instance, I love anything resembling screwball comedy but other varieties of the genre leave me cold. Similarly with thrillers, and as for musicals, I find I can dislike some as much as I adore others. So I did the only honest thing and, er, did nothing!
By the way, my opinion of the categories being too broad isn't a criticism, just an observation.
