If you have any comments about the new time please post them.

The topic for the chat which will last between 1 and 2 hours is :

FILM FIRSTS

This chat is in two roughly hour long halves. In the first half we will discuss the technological and narrative milestones in film history things like the first feature, the first talkies, the development of colour, widescreen and 3D.

In the second half we will discuss our own film firsts : how did you get interested in classic movies etc ? We will also consider the best way of introducing new generations to the wonders of classic film. Finally we will look briefly at film preservation/restoration.

This is quite a wide-ranging chat and the format will reflect the new monthly schedule. Please don't be shy come into the chatroom and contribute, remember you don't have to be there for the full chat session, you will be very welcome at any time.

Take care,

Derek (Classic Movie Man)

I get things ready for a chat and you pick Super Bowl Sunday for it. Bad enough that I will be recovering from surgery on both of my feet, but I don't give up the Super Bowl for anything, not even a good Johnny Mack Brown western.

Looks like I will have to wait until the next chat to come along. Unless you decide to reschedule the chat for February 11............on that date there is nothing going on in the world of sports that would take precedent over a great discussion of The Golden Age of Hollywood.

dvdjunkie has a point there Derek! I won't be there either. We are having a Superbowl party for some of our church friends.

The problem with rescheduling till next week is the radio show though ok I'll do that. I had no idea about the Super Bowl, there is practically no interest in it at all in the UK. When does it actually start ? UK screenings are in the wee small hours but as I said I'll change to the 11th.
