I wonder if anyone will every find Murnau's lost film "4 Devils" 1928 starring Janet Gaynor, Barry Norton and Charles Morton.?? It's so strange how we still have all of the other films of this calibre and era starring Gaynor still in existence, (Sunrise, Seventh Heaven, Street Angel etc), but not 4 Devils... There is actually a photo reconstruction of it on the "SUNRISE" DVD with someone giving a narrative and it looks to be a fascinating movie... From contemporary reviews this F. W. Murnau film detailing the lives and loves of a circus high wire act was exquisitely photographed, earning an Academy Award nomination for Cinematography. Also apparently Fox first released the film with only a synchronized musical score, but then withdrew it to reshoot the last two reels with sound. Does anyone have any information to share on this picture?

David,

ohmy.gif Yes, you forgot about MARY DUNCAN! How could you??? Unfortunately, Her Daughter was the last person to see the film many years ago, according to David Shepard?

To bad that guy who claimed He had a print in an attic in Seattle Washington apparently turned out to be a Hoax?

Oh God yes thats right Mary Duncan was also in it as "The Lady" (?), as well as Anita Louise and Anne Shirley... Wow it was a star packed movie... I'm just reading my way through the posts that that guy (Fraudster) made back in October 2007. the one who claimed to have found the lost film in his attic.. What an idiot!! How could he sleep at night claiming to have found the film when it was all a lie,.. Here is the link...
