Greetings all,

Though I'm old enough to have seen a good number of older films I'm a novice compared to this crowd. I've forgotten much more than I remember. What brought me here is an off and on 15+ year interest in Deanna Durbin films. I first saw a couple of her works on AMC back in about 1990 I was quite enchanted but the only current release of her work at that time was "It's a Date". Somehow I missed the Video releases of the mid-late 90's and only fairly recently rediscovered this treasure trove. So despite having seen quite a few films of the 30's and 40's (usually comedies) I'm unlikely to speak up much; When I do I'll try to moderate the worst of my Durbin biases wink.gif

Welcome and hope you find GAOH interesting.

I'm in the UK and years ago we often used to have a Deanna Durbin season on TV. Not anymore unfortunately.

Have fun and do try to post often.

Geoff.

Just read around the various forums here and you will get some idea of what kind of movies we all watch - all of them!!!!! I enjoyed Deanna Durbin and am proud that I was able to record all the movies from TCM when they showed them, but I have branched out now and really enjoy the MGM musicals of the 50s, and the RKO musicals of the 30s and 40s.

But as you can see from my avatar, I am truly a westerns fan. I won't pass up any western shown on the Westerns Channel, unless of course I have seen it a hundred times before. No such thing as a bad western, just westerns that weren't very good, but still watchable.

George "Gabby" Hayes was a wonderful man, and as a little boy I had the pleasure of meeting him on the set of a Roy Rogers western. So needless to say, I collect any and all westerns with 'Gabby' Hayes and that even includes his younger days with John Wayne.

Welcome aboard, and you will find that we are a friendly lot. Most importantly, just have fun!!

Thank you all for your warm greetings,

I'll make an attempt to post but I wasn't kidding about my viewing history being hit and miss. My overall knowledge of film is limited to what happened to catch my fancy at a given moment. I tend to use them as stress reducers which I suppose explains my attraction to romantic comedies old and new. Even wonderful drama's seldom get a second viewing. Heck, I hardly even watch television anymore though I will admit to getting sucked into watching the Rome Series on HBO. My obsessive streak has my attention focused on Deanna Durbin films these last few months as I suddenly realized her work is available (I'd pretty much given up finding any sometime in the early-mid 90's). Unfortunately my other obsessive interests at the moment aren't films; but who knows maybe you all will suck me in wink.gif

Hi Nuor - WELCOME.
I also like Deanna and would love to read
what you have to say about her.
I am from Australia and she is not on TV very
often here. Usually it is "Can't Help Singing"
that is shown and I have to rely on my own
tapes if I want to see her films.
