Maybe for you. But once you learn one formula, it's tough to switch unless you have a really good reason.

And on a side note, thank you for making me drag out the notebook where I had that chapter from the energy book. That's where I had my grid paper I was looking for earlier this evening. clap.gif

We've created this thread for new to rotary members so they won't be intimidated and other members learn from it without much of hassle.

Good, now can we quit the bickering? And how can we get it back on topic? I don't think many people really care about our displacement or power equations. We probably need to take it back down a notch.

Alright, I've got one.

When Mazda first began their rotary development in the 1960s, they assigned the task to a group of engineers devoted to making the rotary viable. This group got a nickname. What was that nickname?

Before I look at your PM:

You edited your post while I made mine. I know where you got your formula from. wink.gif Both of them actually.

So, the formula for power is a long one. Would you like that in kW or HP? thumbup.gif

Nope, but here's a hint. There was a number. Also try to think about Japanese legends.

I'm sure some of you will kick yourselves when you see the answer.

Think a type of Japanese warrior, and the number is higher than 10.

You're close. The number is off. According to Japanese legend there was a number of samurai who revenged their lord after years of hardship. Mazda's rotary engineering group had the same number, hence the nickname some gave them.
