I would never guessed or come close to it. All my life I thought that was the owner's name or something. "The name Mazda stems from Ahura Mazda, the highest Zoroastrian God of reason who granted wisdom and united man, nature and the other gods. It also closely resembles the sound of the company founder’s name, Mr Jujiro Matsuda." So, it's not even Japanese Wow! I think it's quite appropriate name for all the reserch and development of the most unique engine bearing automobile mfr.
