Title: just have to say

Sir Lambert of Lancs - January 31, 2011 06:53 AM (GMT)
its not the liquor and beer talking its my honest opinion

so many of you talk about politics here and discuss what is being done and how it should be done

but in all honesty what creditability are you speaking with, are you actually doing anything to help your country ( no matter where your from) or are you just sitting outside looking in the window were it is easy to judge any and every country

quit honestly its easy to sit here and quote this and quote that and argue about the topics because your just a by stander.your really not debating crap because a honest debate is where you start off with the purpose of learning and will admit where your wrong and readjust your argument to make it stronger but with the purpose of enlightenment or to just admit your wrong, and none of you that post all the political garbage do that. you just keep hammering away at how your right and the opposition is just wrong because your right

if your all so right in the way things should be ran what the hell are you doing make true changes, because honestly change does not happen unless there is a drastic measure, lets stay a damn good slap in the face

so please share how the hell do any of you feel that your so right in the garbage you post, because frankly either left or right its all garbage because your not coming with anything new your just putting out the same rhetoric that is already being said......

Hmmmm... I just got back from a conference on sustainability where I worked to get funding for a competition of student business plans for new ventures in the green sector....

Although most of my time is not nearly as worthwhile.... lol.

BWT, Lam... while I'm at it... what are the highly trafficked threads that the politics is distracting you from? The TV thread has been up there since Sept of '09.....

But more importantly, writing is learning... learning is writing.... and much better for your brain than TV (unless you're just pirating Hannity, I suppose... hehe). Chazz doesn't want to admit to being wrong... which is much different than not learning, and far different than exercising his limited rational powers in a masquerade of verbal jujitsu. :D

And, btw... there is some great ####### research in some of my posts:

For example:

http://thinkprogress.org/wp-content/upload...lactionmemo.pdf

http://www.freedomworks.org/files/FW_July%...Kit_6-26-09.pdf

These documents are primary evidence of two industry funded "grassroots organizers" instituting a campaign to disrupt townhall meetings of representatives to gin up angst on national TV.

--Americans for Prosperity.... Kock Industry's primary grassroots lobby group.
--Freedomworks.... ###### Armey's operation.

Two of the biggest names in Tea Party Inc. Hard to get more propagandist than that.... old school propaganda mixed with TV and internet.

You don't think that is valuable information to pass on?

oh its not that it is distracting me from anything, it is just that your arguments against each other are no better then the half wits that are in office and are arguing with each other. its nothing new, its just the exact same thing over again regardless of which news channel you turn to or which paper you read.

you say chazz wont admit he is wrong and there you go blaming fault with the oppositions argument before you find fault with yours. neither one of you, either conservative or liberal, admit how your wrong.

the best way to present your strong case is by presenting your oppositions strongest argument and finding fault with it in order to strengthening your strongest point. but nope all you guys do is stay this is why my point is better and it is just better because it is.

bottom line is i don't care about the political debates or intellectual discussions, what i care about is how its all discussed. for me its a shame to have two people that i have respect for due to their age, life experience and professions do nothing more but argue back and forth like mindless rabble. especially since that is what all our politics really is any ways

Spot on post Lam.
TBH I think the discussions Merc and I have are quite reflective of the political atmosphere here in America. At various times we both use the wrong approach when discussing the issues.

Mercurius of Cappadocia - February 2, 2011 06:59 AM (GMT)
Lol.... Lam... read something else.

There is no "best way" to present an argument... there is a mixture of various rhetorical appeals. Testing them out here and hearing opposition is not a bad path to go toward developing positions.

You are apparently not paying attention to the arguments due to the tone, I gather....

i might have misused the word present of course there are various methods to how you argue however which ever method you use the guidelines i use what is used by a lot enlightened thinkers to learn.......

and your right both of your tones just seem like uppy snotty i know it all and i am just right attitude that is all over the every media outlet when it comes to politics

Sir Lambert of Lancs - February 2, 2011 02:02 PM (GMT)
lol it is to early in the morning i just go the read something else :D

normally i do and don't really bother with the political threads but i guess i am just challenging both of you to present your ideas in a different manner :D because i am sure that you both have some good opinions

My opponent's strongest argument is not my argument. There can be reasons to pre-butt a rebuttal... and you can see that happening all the time in our threads... but you are talking about a premise of a larger argument.

On the other hand, Napoleon suggested that it is not good strategy to stop your opponent from making a mistake....

Also... For example, I'd say the strongest argument for the GOP is the myth of fiscal responsibility, and you don't have to scroll far down the list of threads to find some arguments I've posted against that.

ah the reason your views are always my fav Merc :D even if you are a lib :P
