It only works properly when you start a new game. So forget about using it with your current saved games.

They changed what the "signs" (like lover, steed, thief, warrior), will do, so that the choices are more balanced. I think they made fatigue much more important. Combat will tire you out much faster. 2 of the signs actually increase your fatigue regeneration.

Also, the potions no longer have an instant effect for giving you health, magic, fatigue. They work over time, so you'll need to use them earlier rather than at the last second. You might need some of anti-fatigue potions now too, with the fatigue being a problem.

One thing I don't really like about oblivion is that I'd like to play a little bit of everything, but I'd do best if I specialized. I really like using the bow, sneaking up on enemies and picking them off. But marksmanship is kinda underpowered compared to other forms of combat. And when they come charging at me, I want to switch to hand to hand weapons. And then I also like using some of the magic. Not really destruction magic, but the odd skills under illusion or alteration, or maybe conjuration. If I do all of that, I'll just be weak in everything. I'd do much better just as a pure powerful mage, or purely a warrior with super-strong attacks.

Also, when you specialize, you'll use the skill that use the same attributes, so you'll get a bigger bonus for those attributes when you level up.

I had my scruples about that assassin guild too (didn't join with my first few characters - I never even had the chance), but they almost make it look like they kill for a good cause every time rolleyes.gif

If you can play that on highest gfx, you can do that with Medieval as well!!!! yuk.gif

Since Abu expressed some interest, here's a list of the basic mods I used recently.
The Elder Scroll Nexus is the best source with catalogued mods. http://www.tesnexus.com

Utilities

Oblivion Script Extender - OBSE by OBSE Team
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37952

Oblivion mod manager by Timeslip (OBMM)
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097

(OBSE is required for mods, OBMM is also your most convenient launcher for the game.)

Unofficial patches
Fans have fixed literally thousands of issues with the game.
Apply official patches 1st.

Unofficial Oblivion Patch by Quarn and Kivan
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296

Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch by Quarn and Kivan
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10739

This is for DLCs. Make sure you only patch content you have, or your game may refuse to launch.
Unofficial Official Mods Patch by Quarn and Kivan (only if you have the DLCs!)
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9969

Unofficial Oblivion Patch Supplementals by Quarn - Kivan - Arthmoor
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27710

User Interface
BTmod by bieder
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1825
A more compact and useful UI. A lot more items will fit on 1 screen, and you see more of the map.

Toggleable Quantity Prompt - Updated by Waruddar and kea
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12859
Absolute must IMO, stack selling / container pickup of items. Shift+click sells all, Ctrl+click sells one, just click will ask for the quantity as usual. Requires OBSE.

MiniMap - HUD Element by kyoma
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26220
Requires OBSE. A minimap on your screen. It has an ini file if you wish to customize it, otherwise you can just use NumPad * for map toggles and - / + to zoom. Doesn't have the quest marker, but shows doors and unexplored areas.

Misc
Harvest Flora by Quarn and Dejunai
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2037
When you pick a flower for ingredients, it will actually happen in the world. Way cool.

Visuals
Setting up visual mods requires some dedication, it can be tricky, even though it's basically just copying the right files to the right folder... The mod manager may be a help.

Qarl's Texture Pack III Full v1.3 OMOD (1.7 gigabytes)
http://www.fileplanet.com/189421/180000/fi...-Full-v1.3-OMOD
http://elderscrolls.filefront.com/file/Qar..._3_Patch1;85429 (a patch for it that I havn't tried)
Textures, 4x the original size, so you get a better-looking world. Not for very old hardware.

Improved Trees and Flora 2 by Mikal33
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11891

Body/Armor mods will make the characters look better but it's a matter of taste and rather tricky to set up properly. If you want to do it, register at the TES nexus (http://www.tesnexus.com) to enable "adult" content, and search for "body". If you found a body type you prefer, you can look for matching armour mods.

I last played with the Vvardenfell Imports mod installed, which is a large mod adding Morrowind armour to Oblivion. I also have a coloured map and map icons, not sure where that comes from.

Nice trolling, Chazz joker.gif

Unfortunately the pic was too big so I had to change your post it so that it doesn't ruin the thread.

If you are going for a full playthrough, perhaps you'll also want to try this basic mod too. It'll make several quest reward items and spells more powerful as you level up. (Normally quest items will have their level fixed to yours when you complete the quest, so they often become obsolete.)

Auto Update Leveled Items And Spells by Alek
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39635
You can customize when the item & spell update happens, I set it to on leveling up and disallow spells that would become too powerful for my character.
