the ruby plain...forgotten, abandoned, and left to fend for itself after the great war. the rest of the land rendered obsolete, the only way ruby plain survived was from the magical barrier that was put up by - well, they're not sure who. but whoever did it saved the lives of hundreds of innocent people. the ruby plain thrived for years and years, elves and humans living together in peace. generation after generation came and went, the little village growing into a hustling town that remained completely self-sufficient. and still the barrier hummed, inivisble and yet ever-present around the town, preventing entry and escape from the ruby plain.
what was once a haven now seemed like a prison to some, who wanted nothing more than escape and freedom. but some disagreed, saying that the barrier is the only thing that protected the town from harmful strangers and war. and who is to say that the great war still isn't continuing? tension is growing among the townspeople, and it looks sure to be ending in war or civil dispute. although there are those that remain neutral and try not to get caught up in the debates that happen all-too-frequently, there are inevitably those who are willing to do whatever it takes to get their own way. and that way would be developing a spell to disable the magical barrier forever.
now, there's only one thing left between civil war and peace, between freedom and safety, between the outside world and the ruby plain:

welcome to ruby plain. i can't tell you how glad i am that you've actually bothered to at least open this topic. so i'll keep it short.
post length - this is an intermediate - advanced roleplay. that means that all posts must be at least 3 paragraphs in length - and that's 3 decent sized paragraphs, too. oneliners are not only not accepted - they are laughed at, ridiculed, and sent back to the writer for embellishment. m'kay?
politeness. rudeness in OOC areas will not be tolerated. period. if you've got a problem with somebody, then tell me. i'll sort it out. or, alternatively, sort it out over pm.
c-box. please, no spamming, and no being rude. 'tis sort of obvious, but i'll say it anyway.
admins. admins have the final say on everything. they are your gods, and you must worship them. :P nah, just kidding. but treat them with respect, allright? besides, if you do, then you might just find yourself as part of the staffing team someday.
marysue's and gary-stu's. please. be original. not all characters are perfect - in fact, no characters are perfect. let's keep it that way. and, by the way, when you post your application, please post the phrase 'shines like jewels' right at the bottom so we know you've read these rules.
