 A schedule thread

Was just reading some of the answers to the polls and it occurred to me that participation also depends on the schedule of most members. As places like SAYS also attract many students as well as workers/mothers, timing of certain events don't coincide well enough.

So I was thinking of a schedule thread, a place where people can post their busiest times in. Almost like an absent thread, but more a proposed schedule of their time. That way the timing of competitions and the like don't interfere with exams and or study times for exam prep.

Those that work could post their most active times and us mothers can also post in when we are most active. Getting an understanding of other people schedules may help in the planning/organisation of certain events..Like fic exchanges or something like that. Then we know who has the time to dedicate and who really doesn't.

I think this is a good idea, the only flaw that I can see is that with as many members as there are (active or not) it could be very tedious for us to plan around everyone else's schedule's. And, if they collide with the staff schedule, it wouldn't benefit anyone at all (as we've seen before :cad:).

Definitely will be considered as a guideline, though. :)

Maybe there could be a poll as to which times would be best for certain things .. that still might be a little complicated, though.

Yep :)

I meant that with say the high-schoolers, there may be a certain period where the bulk of those members have exams. For example October-December.

This block might be kept free of huge, site wide events like Blackfest was due to holiday/exams if that's where most people say they'll have least about of time to dedicate.

Summer time schedules for those opposite to me..lol..Might be the most active time, so then bigger projects could be set member wise...

The idea was just to make sure that 50 people sign up and don't drop out due to RL commitments, like school or work. Although they are generally all year round things...At some point, some months would be more demanding then others.

I agree with Elena and Jessi - this is a great idea, although it WOULD be difficult to work round everyone. Still, unless it's a really abnormal excuse - like I can't be around in October because I'm going to the moon - then chances are more than one person will have that same excuse - for example, I know Miss Fabulous and I definitely have GCSE/A Level exams in June and I can bet others do too.

I like the idea, and I agree with the principles. I know there are definitely some times when I'm more active.
