ELLORAS CAVE
If you write erotic romance, Ellora's Cave is THE place to be. Currently the ONLY e-publisher recognized by the Romance Writers of America, our site receives over 50,000 hits daily and average sales of over 30,000 books per month. Our readership continues to grow by the thousand, and our reputation within the e-publishing community is flawless. Ellora's Cave is ALWAYS open to new submissions of erotic romances. Send a detailed full-story synopsis, the first three chapters and the final chapter of your manuscript via email as attached files (in doc or rtf format). Note: We are an e-publisher and all our work is done electronically; we do not accept paper submissions. We do not have a required format; please just use a common serif font, reasonable page margins, and single or 1.5 line spacing. We prefer stories of 50,000 words or more, but will consider shorter novellas. We do not accept short story submissions except from authors who already have a full-length novel accepted by us. Notice for previously published authors: we will only publish your out-of-print books if you hold exclusive rights. Royalty rate is 37.5% of Gross (that's the cover price) for single author titles in e-book format. All manuscripts must contain sexual content and language that is explicit and leaves nothing to the imagination (for example, Dara Joy, some Linda Howard, Thea Devine, Susan Johnson, Jaid Black, Angela Knight). See the description of our SEX Rating System on this website. Ellora's Cave publishes Erotic Romance or Romantica, not erotica. Submissions for non-romantic erotica may be submitted here for our upcoming erotica website. Don't write erotica or erotic romance? Submit your mainstream title for our upcoming mainstream fiction website here. No manuscript will be considered that is in any way demeaning to another individual or group of people. Although the line between erotica and pornography is often times a fuzzy one, here are the big no-nos which we don't feel fuzzy about in the slightest: o NO pedophilia. If someone even sends in a script like this our editors are liable to dry heave and we WILL report you to local authorities as potential threats to society. No characters under the age of 18 may be involved in any sexual situations in the story. o NO rape as titillation. Rape may be used as part of the plot action, especially supporting character development, but MAY NOT be presented in a positive light or with the intent stimulating erotic excitement or pleasure. o NO bodily functions - i.e. "golden showers" o NO necrophilia. (eek!) o NO knives and stabbing weapons stuffed in various parts of the female anatomy. It's sad that this even has to be stated, but there it is. o NO beastiality. Explanation: this rule refers to common animals indigenous to earth...this does not apply to shape-shifting protagonists and, depending upon how it's handled, might not apply to certain breeds of "otherworldly" animals in sci-fi titles (i.e. Jaid Black's Dementia). |
