Rich has stepped down and everyone at Newport Town FC would like to thank him for his tremendous efforts over the last 3 seasons. 2 Promotions and the cups won is an exceptional record.

The search for a new manager has begun.

ALTHOUGH HE IS DENYING INTEREST MY OWN PERSONAL CHOICE IS STEVE HANDLEY. WHAT STEVE DOES'NT KNOW ABOUT LOCAL FOOTBALL IS NOT WORTH KNOWING. I REALISE THAT IT INVOLVES ALOT OF HARD WORK AND COMMITMENT BUT WHOEVER TAKES OVER I WISH THEM ALL THE BEST.

I should not see that as a problem, as Newport used to be in D1 before, but you never can tell with Mr J. Good luck anyway Phil.

Seems a little bit strange that Priest has stood down, Is there problems behind the scenes? Be a difficult man to replace.

I dont think you can start speculating about trouble behind the scenes just because hes stepped down, the guy might just wanna break, everytime ive seen them boys they are a very tight knit bunch and Rich is a major part of that. No doubt they will find the right person to come in, Newport has always produced good players and managers and im sure it will continue to do so, good luck fellas in WMRL, i dont see any issues with the ground and Chid stick to reffing you Bolton scummer, chumpionship football next year sunshine :lol:

There is no trouble behind the scenes, Rich has decided to step down after 3 very successful years. Thanks to Rich and the lads we are moving to West Mids Division 2 (subject to acceptance of course ;) ) and the whole club is looking forward to it

Rich (aka Moley) has had a really good 3 seasons at Newport Town and has turned them into a very good side. Very surprised he didn't want a crack at WMRL level but fair play to him, he's already achieved what he wanted.

There are plenty of good managers about that would fancy that job and plenty of experience too, I would love to see a list of the interested parties, could be exciting times at Newport.

Big Steve is too modest, think you should go for the job pal, especially after them legs went the other year :D

My legs only struggle cos they have to run around carrying my beer belly. As for the Newport job it won't be me doing it not sure if I'm playing for anyone next season yet and if i dont I might try and suffer going to watch wolves every week

Any updated news regarding the managers post. Has anyone been installed or close to getting sorted

I have been speaking to a few applicants over the last week or so and am due to speak to a couple more before the weekend. Some managers requested some time away from football after the season before they spoke about the position.

Hoping to have sorted by mid June to allow new manager time to plan next season and bring in players.

I genuinely wasn't interested in the job at first, I wasnt lying or nothing if I'd of wanted it straight away I'd of said so. In the end I just changed my mind and fancied giving it ago am now looking forward to the start of the season

No probs, i just found it strange as at first you clearly denied twice that you were interested, despite a couple of people putting your name forward. Or was it the terrifying thought of watching Wolves most weeks that made you change your mind :P
