| QUOTE | BACK TO THE FUTURE (2 CD SET)
Label: Intrada Special Collection Volume 117 Date: 1985 Tracks: 39 Time = 89:08
Wow! At last! Alan Silvestri's complete orchestral soundtrack for legendary Robert Zemeckis movie, released by Universal, produced by Steven Spielberg, starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd. Spectacular 2-CD set offers every cue Silvestri fashioned for landmark movie, presented from complete multi-track scoring session masters. CD 1 features now-iconic score used in movie. (Songs can be found on MCA label release.) But there's more! Many film fans know movie underwent changes in lead actor & serious tone of initial production. Find out now how Silvestri made changes as well! CD 2 presents early sessions featuring entire score Silvestri recorded before re-scoring with now-familiar one. Early version features darker, more serious tone in music than final version. Cool alternate scoring highlight: powerful trombone chords for initial version of Marty arriving in "Peabody Barn". Another powerful highlight: lengthy, intense action music for "George To The Rescue". Highlighting both discs, of course: early and final versions of complete "Clocktower" sequence, a genuine cinema-scoring milestone. Authoritative notes by Michael Matessino on background of production, scoring details, session dates plus great color stills complete package. Both early version and familiar "famous" version of score offer non-stop excitement! Alan Silvestri conducts. Note: While this is a limited release, we don't want anyone to miss out on this important album. For that reason, we are electing not to specify a quantity, but our Agreement allows us to exceed the usual 3000 limit. There should be more than enough to go around! |

Cast Away Theme - Filming of the Orchestra |

The music is so moving. I so want to SEE the orchestra playing the Cast Away theme. Does anyone know if it was video taped? What orchestra he used and if they may have taped it beyond just the audio? I want to see it so that I can figure out if I picked out the instruments in my head correctly...I do this when I feel music.
Also...anybody have any luck on finding or making sheet music for this score?
Thanks everyone!!! U can email me direct at hotflowerbox@yahoo.com with replies |

The best Silvestri score of 2009 |
| Posted by BigMacGyver - 11-3-09 09:49 - 0 comments |

It has been an interesting year for us Silvestri fans. 3 new scores and one original song for hannah montana: the movie. In may, a wonderful album has been released of alans score for the night at the museum sequel, his powerhouse music for g.i. joe has been released on a lengthy album with questionable sound quality and his most recent work for a christmas carol is now available as a digital download.
Now you can choose your favorite.
Mine is definitely a christmas carol. NatM 2 is way too temp-tracky and unoriginal for my taste, so it was almost a tie between g.i. joe and christmas carol. But A Christmas Carol captures the charme of the "old" silvestri style so beautifully and with so many great ideas that its clearly my winner. This is the silvestri i want to hear, even though G.I. Joe also turned out very well. |

mostra Alan Silvestri un Piemontese a Hollywood |

sorry for italian language.... ;-)
----------------------------------------------
I pezzi esposti giungono da molti continenti: Oceania (Australia), Asia (Giappone, Cina, Taiwan, Singapore, Filippine, Thailandia), America (Argentina, Stati Uniti, Canada, Messico), Europa (Francia, Spagna, Svezia, Germania, Polonia, Belgio, Irlanda, Inghilterra, Svizzera, Austria, Italia).

Yellow Submarine (remake) |

At disney's d23 there was a press release about what will be zemeckis' next movie. Read more at aintitcool.com
Sad in a way, not just because the beatles classic does not need any makeover, but because they have licensed all the 16 songs, which most likely means that alan will not score yellow submarine
With all these full song performances thrown in, theres hardly enough room to justify an original score and even if there will be a minimum amount of score, it wont get released because the beatles music sells the records.
All of a sudden, roger rabbit 2 sounds like a much better idea to me
The full press release:
| QUOTE | THE WALT DISNEY STUDIOS, THE BEATLES’ APPLE CORPS LTD. , AND OSCAR®-WINNING FILMMAKER ROBERT ZEMECKIS DIVE INTO NEW MAGICAL 3D ADAPTATION OF THE 1968 CLASSIC YELLOW SUBMARINE
Anaheim, California -- September 11, 2009 -- The Walt Disney Studios has made a deal with Apple Corps Ltd. to develop a new 3D performance capture adaptation of the 1968 hit animated film "Yellow Submarine" to be written and directed by Robert Zemeckis, it was announced today at the D23 Expo by Dick Cook, chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. The film will be created by ImageMovers Digital, Disney’s state-of-the-art performance capture animation studio operated in conjunction with Zemeckis and his partners, Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey, who will serve as producers on the project.
For this fantastic new voyage to Pepperland, Zemeckis will incorporate the16 Beatles songs and recordings from the original motion picture licensed from Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC and EMI-Capitol Records, respectively. The songs include “All Together Now,” “All You Need Is Love,” “Eleanor Rigby,” “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” and “With A Little Help From My Friends” while combining his unique vision and style to bring this dazzling tale to life.
In making the announcement, Cook said, “This is truly an inspired collaboration, and a wonderful opportunity to revisit one of the most imaginative and memorable musical fantasies of all time. To be working with the amazing folks at Apple Corps, and to have Bob helming the sub is truly as good as it gets. With all those incredible Beatles songs and imagery, the spectacular vision of Bob and his pioneering team at ImageMovers Digital, and a classic adventure full of wit and action, we’re sure that moviegoers are going to have a great time on this latest trip to Pepperland.”
Zemeckis said, “’Yellow Submarine’ is one of the greatest fantasy films of all time, and making this new 3D performance capture movie is a dream come true for me. With the latest advances in technology, we will be able to take moviegoers on a voyage unlike any other, and bring new excitement and dimension to Pepperland and the various sea worlds they encounter. I’m thrilled to be working with the good folks at Apple Corps and our partners at Disney on this epic retelling of one of my all time favorite films.”
Jeff Jones, CEO, Apple Corps Ltd., said, “With The Beatles and Walt Disney Studios, we have a partnership between two of the best loved creative entities in the world. We're very excited about the magical fantasy that will result from this collaboration. The marriage of the music of The Beatles with the talent and technical wizardry of Robert Zemeckis and ImageMovers Digital should produce something very special. We look forward to working with Bob and his team on realising his new vision for 'Yellow Submarine'”.
The original motion picture (released in the U.S. on November 13, 1968) based on the music of The Beatles was directed by George Dunning and featured the inspired art direction and design of Heinz Edelmann. The movie is set in Pepperland, an undersea paradise inhabited by music lovers who live in peace and harmony and are protected by Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. That is…until they are threatened by the music hating Blue Meanies. It’s up to John, Paul, George and Ringo to set off on a magical adventure in their yellow submarine and bring music and harmony back to Pepperland.

Ohh, those tunes in Predator 2 |

Iv'e always been a fan of the Predator franchise, but only recently it became obvious, that it was actually Silvestri that hightened my interest. I am tranced by those brassy notes, those screeching metallic horns accenuating the unspoken voice of the unseen
My favourites are El Scorpi, Main Titles, the imaginative craftwork of Silvestri meets a dark scary conjuration from 'Bassoon Hose - oon' master Ray Pizza, an intricate result ensues, and the creature starts too come alive once more.
This is what does it for me, it's this instrument that put the movie, the creature, and all of it's possible exhibits into this scorching perspective exalting Blood, Sweat, Sex and Crazed drug Lords, each with an eerie voice of it's own, a companion, of the Invisible hunter and it's spooky king of prey.
To me this is the Predator playing the flute.
Afore the pulsating and bloody chant of alien metal, this particular instrumentation i must admit, stalks me.
Anybody else enjoy this soundtrack? What are your thoughts on the pieces? : |

Director Chuck Russell is in talks to direct the film. He's not worked with the same compsoer twice on any of his films, but interestingly enough he did work with Silvestri -- whom is supposed to have a score rejected for the TV series.
Anyway, if Silvestri got the gig, it would be cosmic payback, and an interesting choice. |
