'Man creates his own detiny' - Utter Bullshit
Teek officially is a student of a Southern Baptist Sunday school.
Amusing but true and though I laugh, it unnerves me that things work out the way they do.
A background on God's sick little joke:
My daughter is a fanatical pursuer of knowledge. Political, scientific, religious, useless trivia, anything she can comprehend she wishes to know about. Well having a somewhat deep understanding of religious facts and such I've covered most of the basics of Christianity with her on my own (along with other various religious beliefs) but of course she wanted to know even more. Lo an behold there is one elderly lady that frequents the store that I work at that seems to know about everyone and I talk to her about Lydia all the time because as a good country christian lady, she is concerned. (The woman is about the only true Christian I know around here, and yes happens to be the Sunday school teacher at her church that I went to as a child)
She meets Lydia in person while we were in there shopping and as my daughter is, strikes up an extensive conversation with said lady about church, and as soon as she finds out the lady is the teacher...BOOM, she jumps at the invitation to go to her class. Of course this leaves me with the slight dillema of getting her to the class. I weasle and finagle about getting her a ride (because I'm deeply spiritual, I even got a thing for God but Church and me don't mix well) Anyways I am told regrettably that lo and behold to everyone's amusement but mine, that the van they use had a transmission problem and doesn't work, so I set it up to have her picked up by the pastor. Everything was set..I was still free, and then it happens Lydia went to stay with my sister the night before her first class and there's a snow storm. Something happened and I basically said 'I'll just take her". I come to realize without thinking that Suday school was BEFORE curch (yeah it's been a really long time) and that while Lydia was there in her school thing, I was kinda stuck attending the adult class as well, then since I was already there, couldn't really leave when Church started (and of course they have kiddie church) so I was there through the service.
It amuses me how I get suckered into things by God because I could never tell my daughter no to her wanting to learn more about something like this. I promised myself I would never do such a thing. As it goes now, the little old lady has somewhat adopted me along with a few other older ladies that felt I needed mother henning because of my mom's passing and they don't let go easily.
I'm attempting to make the most of things. I made it clear to the pastor that I don't need saving, that I've come to terms with everthing on my own and glossed over a few issues, but otherwise just go Sunday's for Lydia.
Maybe I'll get bored and end up running the place one day and make that Ordained Minister cirtificate I got off the internet years ago come in handy.

Mildly related: Little ol' atheist me was asked again and again annoyingly to go to this religious Youth Group. I gave in and went a few times, all the while trying to get out of it. Even after I explained to the one person that kept bugging me to go that I was an atheist ( and what that means, as she didn't know ), she continued to pester me about going each week. I have been able to get out of it for a few weeks straight, and I hope I can continue that until she gives up.

She will NEVER give up.
I did get out of it one day because I had the flu and my eyes were half swollen shut, so the little old lady brought me home made noodle soup, rolls, and tea to make me feel better.
---
Never do something just to shut someone up because then you will constantly be pushed into those situations. it's a power struggle thing. Something my 4 yr old daughter pulls but most people if they are persistant enough to get their way (for whatever reason) will employ as well.
You're better off just going off on her or come up with something really far fetched like you are martyring yourself spirtually to go to hell to take the place of everyone else in existance and you believe that's what God wants of you. maybe if you freak them out enough they'll leave you alone.
As for myself it's not that big a deal. Lydia gets to feel as if she's doing something. She's learning stuff and whatever and I pay the price for it by basically paying a few bucks to watch a outdated religious movie. Eh..I've done as much for bad porn. It could be worse.

Eh..Mary was a hottie. Good thing it's not a catholic church I might find myself hittin on nuns. (yeah I know I'm goin to hell for that one)
I'm always trying to figure the angles of things in life. I'm a reasonable person for the most part and only like to act if I see a why. Doesn't always work that way but I try. Anyway the best I can gather for now is this:
I was placed in that position because having lost my mom (like a month before the 1st day) God felt I needed to be henned over.
Maybe God felt they needed me. (yeah that one's laughable...but a maybe)
or
Maybe the whole thing really is about Lydia and I'm just a car ride afterall. They treat her like the second coming of Christ. it's unnatural.
--
I've just always been to distinguish between what I want and what I'm supposed to do and this was supposed to happen in this way so I'm in it for the ride.
It's one of those answers I figured out the answer to while away that stressed me out.
I'll post everything out sometime when I have more time to write. It's kinda strange cuz I think I just realized an insight that describes the whole good vs evil existance thing and I need to think it out a bit more. wow..shudder.

But I would love to hear about your newest discovery...

I doubt that.
Plus, she's moving this summer so it isn't like I have to find excuses for my entire life. She can still talk to me at lunch, anyway.

The pastors wife has been ridin my ass in her nice little way about me working Sunday nights. I'm ready to deck the bitch in the face. For some reason she is just one of those people that I just cannot like. I avoid her whenever possible. They way I see it I'm working to feed my child. I don't think God would have much of a problem with that idea. I can always veg out and make another day my rest day since hell, the calender back then changed so noone really knows what the true 'day of rest' is anyway. I'm usually off Thursdays. Be funny if they all went to hell because they picked the wrong one.

Just tell her the Jews, the one's that had the old testament first are free on friday and then that she should go buy a vibrator or something as she obviously needs to get something better to do then annoy people.
I really can't stand people like that either, it's fine with me if your religious and you want to practice it in every way possible, but one should never judge other people for not doing it like that. And definitely not if they have a good reason for doing it as well. Unless of course she would offer to pay for your missed income if you would stop working on sunday.

I don't wanna picture her with a vibe, she's not that cute at all.
Anyways she's about the exception to the place I go. About the only thing that keeps me from boltin for the door is that they're pressing the 'religion is about a relationship w God, not about actions' and 'it's not what you feel you should do for God, it's about what he wants to do with you'
These two clauses are my safeguards not to listen to idiots.
I don't live to impress people and they don't know what God is doin w me.
I mighta been created to piss the world off for his own amusements and I'm just playing the part. =)

Well as Chef said,
God created the world to make people cry. He gives you stuff you love and then takes it away. He makes us cry and he gets more powerful from our tears..
Of course Southpark has always had a strange philosophy on things, but hey whatever.

I recently purchased all 9 seasons of South Park because I truly do admire the show more than any other.
Then I watched them all with my 4 yr old daughter and had discussions and debates you could not imagine. Imma write them one day cuz I'm sure no other person does such a thing with their kid and sees it as a good experience.
I do the same thing with Aqua teen hunger force as well.

There are 11 seasons of South Park, not 9.
Though 9 might be out on DVD.
Which I wouldn't know about.
I love South Park.

Well 11 hasn't even finished yet, so it's kinda hard to buy that one.
