Lyr was situated happily at the end of the table closest to the back of hall. It suited him just fine. He wouldn't have to answer awkward questions like, "How does your watch still work! Shouldn't the magic of Hogwarts shorted it out the minutes you stepped into Hogsmead?" Oh how many times he'd had to explain that one. He once thought about making a story up, but decided against it, thinking that he'd have a much better chance of living down the truth than if a dragon had breathed its last breath on it or something of the like. Shadow leapt up onto his lap and curled up there. Why am I still not surprised, little one? Hmm? he thought. All was well. He was back at Hogwarts, there were mounds of food on his plate, and Ravenclaw was still the best house there was.

All Lyr could understand was "Mphmphmmphfoodmph." Not seeing much in the way of dinner conversation over...well...dinner, Lyr decided to keep to himself. Not that Shadow minded, seeing as he was completely sprawled out across Lyr's lap, purring away happily. He took a piece of chicken and set it down in front of Shadow's nose. Eventually the cat would eat it. Until then, the piece would just have to sit there. Lyr'd have an earful if he didn't share some of his dinner with Shadow. Such is the way of cats. The food was amazing. It rivalled his mother's cooking. But that was probably because his mom used the muggle-way of cooking. To Lyr, it seemed to taste better that way. (not to mention that microwaves and magic didn't take to each other very well) Lyr looked down and saw the piece of chicken gone. Instead, he saw a pleading look for more. And he gladly gave Shadow another piece.

Lyr mumbled a greeting back, but was too preoccupied with feeding Shadow. That is until he realized who said it. He looked up and recognized her as the girl he had sat with on the train. "Amalie...? No...shoot...I'm sorry...I've forgotten exactly what your name was...it starts with Am...and ends with ee...oh...Amy...sorry about that." He went back to feeding Shadow, nonchalantly hiding his embarassment.
